Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors

Dia 1 Iniciado

Event #68: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Kicks Off At 10 a.m.

On Monday, June 26, Lonnie Hallett was crowned champion of the 50 years of age and older players, winning the $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em event with a prize of $765,731.

The day after that title was awarded, it's time for the youngest runners to step aside and make way for players aged 60 years or older in the World Series Of Poker Event #68: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em.

Last year, Massoud Eskandari brought home the Super Seniors bracelet. The "Come Back Kid" earned $330,609 thanks to his victory. It is doubtful anyone can compete with James Moore, who took the Super Seniors Event in both 2016 and 2017; an amazing achievement that puts him on the list of the few players who have won an event in back-to-back years in WSOP history.

They'll have 20-minute breaks every two levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6 (about 4:40 p.m.). Late registration will be open until the end of Level 8, (about 8:15 p.m.) with a single reentry allowed per player.

Fuentes Misclicks

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

On one of the first few hands, Bobby Fuentes limped from the cutoff and was raised to 300 by Mark Milburn on the button. The big blind and Fuentes called to see the flop 109A.

All three players checked and the 9 landed on the board. The big blind checked once more, but Fuentes decided to bet 10,100 — half his stack. Of course, he intended to bet a smaller amount.

As a consequence, Milburn, on the button, had no choice but to fold. "I had AJ by the way," he said after the big blind folded too. Apologizing, Fuentes showed Q8.

With 5,600 in the middle, three players saw the turn board of KQ95. Craig Carrillo bet 1,200 which gained a fold from the big blind, but the middle position player raised to 3,500.

Carrillo took a moment before announcing all in for 17,000 and was quickly called by middle position.

Middle Position: AJ

Carrillo smashed the flop hitting a straight flush and could not have asked for a better turn card to give his opponent the ace-high flush. The inconsequential 2 completed the board and Carillo completed an early double up.

Carrillo is in good form after finishing sixth in Event #27: $1,500 8-Game Mix for his biggest-ever recorded cash of $30,315.

Botwin Takes a Seven-Way Pot

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

A player in middle position limped and all six players after him also called.

In this seven-way pot, the first four players to act checked on 43Q until Steve Myrick, in the hijack, bet 3,000. The cutoff called, but Mike Botwin in the small blind check-raised to 1,300. Myrick called, but the cutoff folded.

On the turn 6, Botwin bet another 2,000 and was called once again. When the river K came, he checked. Myrick took this opportunity to bet 3,000 and Botwin called.

"Queens," said Myrick, revealing QJ. Hearing that, Botwin flipped Q3 for two pair and took the pot.

Khorsandi Off to a Flying Start

Mojtaba Khorsandi

Mojtaba Khorsandi bet 300 from early position and was called by the hijack, cutoff, button, and both blinds.

The flop came 1087 and the small blind led out for 400, which got the big blind to fold. Khorsandi was undeterred by this and raised to 1,200. This was called by the cutoff and the small blind. The hijack and button folded.

The 2 landed on the turn and Khorsandi bet 2,700, which got a call from the cutoff and a fold from the small blind.

The 10 paired the board on the river and Khorsandi bet 3,200. The cutoff went deep into thought and after a few seconds, Khorsandi chirped "Come on, life is short, I am over the hill!" Trying to get the cutoff to make their decision quicker.

The cutoff eventually called and Khorsandi tabled 77 for sevens full of tens which forced the cutoff to muck and Khorsandi took in a big pot at the start of the day.

Pothier Bluffs Huard

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Huard called from the small blind after Richard Pothier opened on the button. The big blind completed.

The dealer fanned a flop of 4AA, where Huard took the lead, betting 500. The big blind folded, but after hesitating, Pothier called.

Feeling quite intrigued by his neighbor's hesitation, Huard decided to check on the turn Q. Pothier added 1,500 more to the pot, leading to Huard's fold. "Ace?" she asked. Pothier responded by showing J9 for a nice bluff.
