Cheong Among The Leaders; Bonomo, Aldemir, and Greenstein Remain In Day 2 of the Million Dollar Bounty

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

A total of 14,112 entrants tossed their hats in the ring over the four flights available in Event #68: $1,000 Million Dollar Bounty No-Limit Hold’em. Day 2 will begin with 825 survivors, all looking for the WSOP gold bracelet and the $1,000,000 bounty, which will more than likely be acquired today.

The leader coming into today is Armando Figueroa who bagged 3,150,000 after Day 1b’s flight. The only player with over 3 million in chips, Figueroa has put himself into prime position in terms of bounty collection. Figueroa has secured his biggest cash of the series thus far and a whole host of bounties should make the deep run in this event feel even better.

Also cracking the top ten in chip counts is WSOP bracelet winner Joseph Cheong who bagged 2,415,000 after Flight 1b. Cheong is no stranger to deep runs in massive fields, with his biggest cash being a third place finish in the WSOP 2010 Main Event for $4,130,049. Cheong has cashed five times at this WSOP and looks to make this run his best cash of the series thus far, with the added hope of collecting big bounties.

Other players that have made it today include WSOP Main Event Champion Koray Aldemir (1,180,000), Robert Campbell (855,000), Justin Bonomo (685,000), and Barry Greenstein (625,000). All of them will be looking to collect lots of players' stacks and seek another piece of WSOP jewelry.

Players will return to Paris Black with blinds at 20,000/40,000 and a 40,000 big blind ante. Levels have been upped to 40 minutes each with a 15-minute break occurring at the conclusion of every three levels. A 60-minute dinner break will happen after Level 31, around 7:30 p.m., after which play will continue until only five remain. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all updates regarding the World Series Of Poker.

He took a deep breath, pulled an envelope out, and quickly revealed the $100,000 bounty. He put both arms and hands up in the air.

Glantz Gets the BIG Bounty Prize of $1,000,000

Nível 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

Matt Glantz was the next player to make his way to the chest to draw his bounty.

"I have my bounty hat on," he commented while walking up and smiling.

He decidedly looked at all the envelopes when the lid of the chest was opened. He picked one: "It's heavy..."

He opened the seal, and slowly peeled the paper back. "It's a one," he said with some excitement in his voice.

He then revealed a comma and that was enough for him to quickly reveal the rest.

"OH BABY!!!" he shouted while jumping up and down with the $1,000,000 bounty paper in his hand. "LET'S GO!"

He flexed his muscles, celebrated, and hugged Jeff Platt before Mike Dentale ran over to congratulate him.

"It's great to be lucky!" Glantz commented. "The trick is having Paul Volpe have 10 percent and and Shaun Deeb having 10 percent. With the luck of those two, it was just a matter of time."
