Reichenstein Spikes the Turn to Double

Nível 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Uri Reichenstein, who finished in fourth place in this event a year ago, was facing a 20,000 raise on a flop of {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Reichenstein went into the tank for several minutes, uncapping his cards and taking one last look at them before shoving all in for his last 44,000. His opponent nearly beat him into the pot and showed {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for flopped trips.

Reichenstein had {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was in danger of seeing his tournament come to an end before the {q-Hearts} fell on the turn, improving him to a full house. The river came the harmless {6-Spades} and Reichenstein doubled up.

Kornuth Doesn't Show

Nível 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Chance Kornuth and Alex Keating went heads-up to the turn on a board of {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Kornuth, in the big blind, bet 12,000 and Keating called.

The river came the {3-Spades} and Kornuth piled in the rest of his 37,700. Keating didn't take too long before giving up his hand.

"If he's bluffing I don't want to see it," Keating said, turning away from the table as Kornuth returned his cards, face down, to the dealer.

"Nobody saw it," a tablemate reassured him.

Zolotow Makes a Straight

Nível 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Steve Zolotow
Steve Zolotow

Jimmy D'Ambrosio opened to 3,200 from middle position and and was called by Steve Zolotow out of the big blind.

Zolotow checked on a flop of {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and then called after D'Ambrosio tossed out 700, saying it was "just a little feeler". Though technically an illegal bet, no one at the table alerted the dealer to this fact and play continued to the turn.

The {8-Diamonds} turn put three to a straight on the board and Zolotow checked for a second time. D'Ambrosio did not slow down, sizing up to 5,000. Zolotow again flatted.

Action checked through the {j-Diamonds} river and Zolotow turned over {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the turned straight, good enough to take down the pot. The river may have cost him some value, however, a point he made as he raked in his newly acquired chips.

Does Everyone Love a Chop Pot?

Nível 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

A player moved all in from under the gun and Daniel Smiljkovic called from one seat over. The remaining players got out of the way and the under the gun player was officially at risk.

Under the Gun Player: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Daniel Smiljkovic: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The under the gun player was flipping for his tournament life while Smiljkovic was hoping to score the knockout and the $3,000 bounty that would accompany the elimination. The {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop kept the at risk player ahead, although Smiljkovic did pick up counterfeit outs. That proved to be important as the {8-Hearts} turn double paired the board and pushed Smiljkovic into the lead. He could not hold, however, as the {9-Spades} river put a full house on the board, chopping up the pot between the two players. It may be the case that a chop pot is preferable to a lost one but judging by Smiljkovic's demeanour, it is certainly not an ideal outcome.

No Bracelet for Simao This Time

Nível 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Brazil's Joao Simao won his second WSOP bracelet earlier this series, but he won't be adding another to his collection in this tournament.

Simao was heads-up with Tim McDermott on a board of {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} when McDermott shoved to put Simao at risk. Simao, with about 25,000 left, called with {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a pair of fives and a flush draw.

McDermott showed {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for top pair and dodged Simao's outs on the {a-Diamonds} river, sending him to the rail while rocketing past 200,000.

Keating Triples Up, Salari Tangles With Kornuth

Nível 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Brian Rast raised pre-flop before Alex Keating shoved for 22,000. In the small blind, Fred Salari re-shoved for 40,200. Rast asked for a count before calling, having both players covered.

Alex Keating: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Fred Salari: {9-}{9-}
Brian Rast: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Keating took the lead on the {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, hitting a pair of kings, and stayed ahead as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{x-} to triple up, while Salari doubled through Rast.

"I'll take it," Keating said following the hand.

"Nice little triple up there," Salari added.

The next hand, Salari called a 11,700 raise from Chance Kornuth before both players checked to the turn on a board of {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Kornuth checked again and Salari bed out 10,000.

Kornuth called as the river came the {5-Hearts}. Kornuth, this time, led out for 18,700, and Salari tanked for so long that the clock was eventually called. He folded before the floor could even get to the table, surrendering the pot to Kornuth.
