The second largest event of the 2021 World Series of Poker will fill the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Saturday morning with Day 1b of Event #55: $400 Colossus kicking off at 10 a.m. local time.

Players will play 17 40-minute levels before bagging for Day 2 and only one reentry is allowed per flight. There will be a 20-minute break every three levels and 75 minutes dinner break after level 12 (7:00 p.m.).

Each player will begin with 40,000 chips with blinds starting at 100/200 ante 200. Late registration and re-entry will close at the beginning of Level 12 (≈8:15 p.m.).

Day 1a, which began at 10:00 a.m., drew a total of 4,219 runners. It is the second of two starting flights and the event is certain to be the largest live tournament of the summer. All remaining players will combine for Day 2 action on Sunday and the winner is set to be crowned Monday. The field has reached 13,109 entries the previous year it has run, creating an impressive $4,391,515 total prize pool.

The Colossus has become one of the signature tournaments of the WSOP for the past six years with the field reaching as much as 22,374 back in its inaugural event in 2015. This year's champion will join Sejin Park, Roberly Felicio, Thomas Pomponio, Ben Keeline, and Cord Garcia in the Colossus winner’s circle.

Day 1a saw Hiep Tran bag an impressive 1,308,000 chips to advance to day 2, as well as many well-known players finding a bag including Jeff Platt (582,000), bracelet-owner Vincas Tamasauskas (1,241,000), former Main Event champion Robert Varkonyi (175,000), Gary Benson (241,000) and Pete Chen (231,000).

Jones Wins With No Showdown

A player in middle position opened the action with a limp and the player in the cutoff came along but when it got to Jennifer Jones in the small blind she raised it up to 600. Both the limpers called.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Jones continued for 1,000. The player in middle position folded but the player in the cutoff called.

The turn card brought the {a-Hearts} and Jones bet 1,000 again. Her opponent called.

The river card paired the board with the {k-Spades}. Jones didn't slow down. She sized up to 3,000 which got her opponent to fold and she scooped the pot with no showdown.

Nice Pot for Bogatzki

The player in the hijack opened and Jon William Bogatzki three-bet to 1,200 on the button. The small blind and the hijack called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades} and it was checked to Bogatzki who continued for 1,500. The small blind folded but the hijack raised it to 3,200 and Bogatzki made the call. On the {q-Spades} turn, the hijack check-called this time a bet of 2,000 from Bogatzki.

A {k-Spades} hit the river and went check-check. Bogatzki revealed {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} and it was enough to make his opponent muck his cards.
