Perrone Trying for Another Bracelet

Nível 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Perrone
Michael Perrone

Michael Perrone took down the Super Turbo Bounty event late last night for his first career WSOP bracelet and is back in action today.

On his last hand, Perrone bet 6,500 on a board of {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts} but folded when his opponent put him all in for his remaining 22,000.

"You can just scratch that one out," Perrone said.

He has his work cut out for him to repeat his bracelet performance. One player at the table who is enjoying Day 1 so far, though, is Chris "J.D." Ewing, who boasts a stack of 460,000, the largest in the room.

Sofia Lovgren
Sofia Lovgren

Sofia Lovgren was standing up from her seat on Blue Table #5 with {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} in front of her. Mario Mosboeck was showing {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and had the rest of Lovgren's chips pushed to him when the board didn't contain an ace.

Lovgren hit the rail midway through Level 3, while Mosboeck is up to 60,000.

Kornuth Busts Early on Day 1

Nível 3 : 200/400, 400 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth moved all in for 27,500 on a board of {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and a player in late position called

Chance Kornuth: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Late Position player: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Kornuth had plenty of outs with his overcard and flush draw but the turn and river didn't help, sending the two-time bracelet winner to the rail.

Event #13: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em Begins at 11 a.m.

2019 $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em winner Ivan Deyra
2019 $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em winner Ivan Deyra

There won't be any second chances when Day 1 of the $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em event begins at 11 a.m. PT today. Players will begin the tournament with a starting stack 40,000 and only get one shot at winning a World Series of Poker bracelet.

This is a brand-new event on the 2021 World Series of Poker schedule and the second of 12 No-Limit Hold'em freezeout tournaments.

There was a $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event held in 2019, which was won by France's Ivan Deyra for $380,090. That tournament attracted 671 entrants which created a prize pool of $1,811,700 and featured final table appearances from both Patrick Leonard and Andras Nemeth.

The plan for today is to play 17 40-minute levels, with a 20-minute break taking place after every three levels. There will be a 75-minute dinner break at the conclusion of Level 9 and late registration closes once players return, which should be around 6:55 p.m. tonight.

As always, the PokerNews team will be on hand to provide live updates and chip counts throughout the tournament.
