With a price tag of $5,000, Event #18 Short Deck Championship, some of poker's biggest names are expected to join the fray at 5 pm UTC on the GGPoker Network.

Among the early entrants more than one hour prior to the start are the GGPoker ambassadors Daniel Negreanu and Felipe Ramos, Mikhail "Misha Inner" Shalamov, Denys Chufarin, Kosei Ichinose, Shuxrat Salixov, Oliver Weis, Stuart Rutter, Stoyan Madanzhiev, Rene Van Krevelen, and Song "xuesong" Xue. Many more are expected in the hours to come as the tournament features a late registration of four hours and five minutes.

During the registration period, up to two re-entries can be purchased in the six-handed format, which provides all players with a starting stack of 60,000. These are available as three bullets of 20,000 chips each and can be used at any time. The first level of the day includes an ante of 200 and the player on the button will pay a double ante. This tournament also features the 3-Stack format and all unredeemed chips will be released once the registration closes.

Day 1 will play down all the way to the seven-handed final table, which then determines a champion on Wednesday, August 25. Stay tuned for all the Short Deck action as the PokerNews team will be there from start to finish en route to crowning another WSOP gold bracelet winner.
