The event's second flight will be kicking off at 5 p.m. PT. The sold out first flight started at Noon as 4,020 players took their seats. An additional 3,000+ folks have registered and a portion of them will be taking their seats at 5 p.m.
Later entrants are expected to start their quest at 7:20, 8:20, 9:40 and 10:40, as tables become available. Even those starting in the late wave will be starting with the full stack of 15,000 at 75 big blinds.
To call this a huge day at the 2014 WSOP would be an understatement. It will be a huge payday for many, with at least the entire final table receiving six figures and the winner set to take home over $1,000,000.

A player from early position limped and Ryan Riess raised to 600 from the button. His opponent called and the flop was . Riess' opponent checked and Riess bet 600 and received a call. The turn was the and Riess bet 2,500 after a check from his opponent and the bet was called. After the river and a third check from his opponent, Riess bet 6,000 and his opponent moved all in for around 9,000.
Riess made the call, but mucked after his opponent tabled for top pair, top kicker.
Massive, Giant, Huge, Mammoth, Monster...All could be used to describe Day 1 of the inaugural $1,500 no-limit hold’em “monster stack” event. It all kicked off at noon where flight one drew the cap of 4,020 players.
The 5 p.m. second flight quickly filled up as well and some of the ‘Day 1b first wave’ registrants had to wait nearly three hours before they were seated for play. Four more “waves” for seating players were planned, but ultimately the large majority seemed to have to wait until the start of level six to be able to play some poker.
Just over one hour later registration closed and the event’s total number of entrants was set at 7,862. A whopping prize pool of $10,613,700 was created with a another millionaire maker for the one who navigates their way through the sharks and dreamers. $1,327,083 to be exact and six-figure paydays for all who make the official final table. Not too shabby for a $1,500 investment.
We will have a better idea of the total number of entrants that made it through at the start of Day 2, as the two flights will combine into one field.
