John Smith Eliminated in 11th Place ($26,584)

Nível 4 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
John Smith
John Smith

After doubling up once John Smith was still short, and he was unable to pull off a big comeback.

In Smith's final hand, Ankush Mandavia raised from the button and Smith moved all in for 17 big blinds. Mandavia quickly called and showed {A-}{Q-}.

Smith was looking for help with {K-Clubs}{J-} and the flop gave him some hope as {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} popped up. The turn, the {6-Diamonds}, and the river, the {8-Hearts}, however did not complete his flush, and Smith hit the rail in 11th place.

Just two matches are still ongoing in this round, as the next round starts at 4:00 p.m. local time.

Negreanu vs. Chen Update

Nível 4 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Negreanu vs. Chen
Negreanu vs. Chen

Tommy Chen raised to 20,000 on the button and Daniel Negreanu called from the big blind.

They checked to the turn of a {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} board where Negreanu bet 15,000. Chen raised to 42,000, Negreanu called and the {Q-Clubs} river was checked by both. Negreanu tabled {A-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a straight, but Chen collected the pot with {4-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a flush.

Shortly thereafter Negreanu shoved on the button for 160,000 and Chen called with {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Negreanu led with {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, but the flop fell {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to give Chen the nut-flush draw. Fortunately for Negreanu, the {2-Spades} turn and {Q-Spades} river gave him the crucial double-up.

The following hand, Chen raised to 23,000 on the button and Negreanu shoved for 320,000. Chen folded, but not without some choice words for Negreanu.

"Pretty pro," said Chen.

"What? Just shipping? replied Negreanu.

After a few moments of silence Negreanu added, "I didn't know what to do with the hand. Just ride the rush."

Suriano Makes a Big Call

Nível 5 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Serkan Kurnaz limped on the button and Davide Suriano checked. The flop came down {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Suriano check-called 12,000.

On the turn the {K-Clubs} hit and this time Suriano check-called 24,000.

The river brought out the {Q-Diamonds} and Suriano checked again. Kurnaz bet 42,000 and Suriano called after about 30 seconds, showing {J-Spades}{2-Spades}. This was enough to take down the pot and Suriano now has a commanding lead in this match.

Negreanu vs. Chen

From the button, Daniel Negreanu raised to 25,000. Tommy Chen called from the big blind, and the flop came down {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {2-Spades}. Both players checked again, and the {10-Hearts} landed on the river. Chen led for 31,000.

"Ahh haaa!" Negreanu exclaimed as he pointed to the river card and looked at the rail, insinuating that Chen hit the river card.

After some chatter, Negreanu folded.

"Pick one," said Chen.

Negreanu grabbed one and turned over the {8-Clubs}.

A couple of hands later, Negreanu raised to 25,000 on the button, and Chen called from the big blind to take the {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. Chen checked, Negreanu bet 31,000, and Chen called. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, and Chen checked. Negreanu bet 55,000 and Chen folded.

On the next hand after that, Chen raised from the button to 31,000, and Negreanu three-bet to 76,000 from the big blind. Chen folded.

Kurnaz Picks Up Steam

Nível 5 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Serkan Kurnaz has been the short stack in this match for quite some time but he just started to pick up some steam. Kurnaz raised from the button to 24,000 and Davide Suriano called from the big blind. The flop brought {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and both players checked.

On the turn the {9-Hearts} hit and the action was checked again. Suriano bet 25,000 on the river and Kurnaz called. Suriano showed {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} but that was not enough against Kurnaz's {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

A few hands later, in the next level, Kurnaz raised to 32,000 and Suriano called. The flop brought {A-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Suriano checked to Kurnaz who bet 22,000. Suriano check-raised to 50,000 and Kurnaz tanked for a bit before making it 84,000.

Suriano quickly folded and his big chip lead's starting to shrink.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 10th Place ($26,584)

Nível 5 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu - 10th Place
Daniel Negreanu - 10th Place

Daniel Negreanu's run has come to an end, with another deep result from the 2014 World Series of Poker ending in 10th place for $26,584.

From the button, Negreanu raised to 25,000. Tommy Chen reraised to 62,000 from the big blind.

"What is it, 62? I call," said Negreanu as he tossed the chips in to make the call. "OK, this could be a good hand," he continued. "Hopefully for me."

The flop was {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}, and Chen checked. Negreanu bet 65,000, and Chen check-raised all in. Negreanu called right away with the {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, but was outdone by Chen's {A-Spades}{9-Spades}.

"Oh, and you have spades. Nice hand," said Negreanu as he saw the bad news.

The turn was the {J-Clubs}, which was followed by the {7-Clubs} on the river, and Negreanu was eliminated.

"Well, onto the PLO," Negreanu said before making his way to the payout desk. With this cash, Negreanu has now cashed five times this summer for a total of $238,894 in earnings.

Chen will now face Daniel Colman in the Round of 8.
