Deeb Takes on the Octo-Niner

Nível 6

No-Limit Hold'em

Shaun Deeb opened for 3,300 in early position and received a call from Octo-Niner Jeremy Ausmus in the hijack. The rest of the field got out of the way and it was heads-up action to the {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop.

Deeb wasted little time in continuing for 2,400, Ausmus called and the dealer burned and turned the {4-Clubs}. Deeb bet again, this time 6,100, and again Ausmus called. When the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river, Deeb slowed down with a check and Ausmus did the same. Ausmus then rolled over the {a-Spades}{3-Spades} for a pair of aces and Deeb rapped the table before mucking his cards.

2-7 Triple Draw

Abe Mosseri began the day with a short stack and was just all in and at risk in a deuce-to-seven hand against Scott Seiver. Mosseri was standing pat with an {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} while Seiver still had one last live draw to a seven, but Seiver didn't make a winner and Mosseri survived.

The next hand saw Mosseri raising from middle position and getting a single caller in Talal Shakerchi playing from the big blind. Both players took two on the first draw, then Mosseri stood pat while Shakercki drew one on each of the last two rounds. Mosseri led with bets on all three rounds, and after calling the first two, Shakerchi let his hand go.

Right Call, Wrong Turn for Hansen

Nível 7

No-Limit Hold'em

Right before the break a big hand arose involving Gus Hansen and Brandon Cantu. A significant pot had already developed by the flop with the board showing {4-Spades}{K-Spades}{6-Hearts}, at which point Cantu had shipped his last 105,000 into the middle, forcing Hansen deep into the tank.

Finally the Dane emerged to make the call, turning over {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for top pair of kings, and he was glad to see Cantu turning over {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for bottom pair of fours.

Hansen was decidedly less pleased once the dealer delivered the turn, however — the {7-Spades}. Two pair for Cantu, and after the {8-Clubs} river Cantu had scored a big double while Hansen was left muttering.

Mizrachi Staying Aggressive Before Last Break

Nível 7

No-Limit Hold'em

Before the break last level, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi kept up his well-known aggressive ways by raising preflop on the final three hands of the level pre flop in no-limit hold'em. Here is the action from those hands.

On the first hand, John Hennigan limped from under the gun, and Mizrachi raised to 3,100 from the hijack seat. Justin Smith called on the button, then action folded to Jason Mercier in the big blind. He three-bet to 12,700, Hennigan folded, Mizrachi folded, and Smith called. The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Mercier bet 11,100. Smith folded, and Mercier won the pot.

On the very next hand, Mizrachi opened with a raise to 2,200 from early position. George Danzer called from the hijack seat, and Hennigan called out of the big blind. The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and action checked around to see the {3-Hearts} land on the turn and pair the board. After Hennigan checked, Mizrachi bet 4,000. Danzer and Hennigan folded, and Mizrachi won the pot.

Then on the next hand, the final hand before the break, Mizrachi raised to 2,100 from under the gun. Troy Burkholder three-bet to 5,000 in the cutoff seat. Hennigan called from the small blind, but Mizrachi increased things even more with a four-bet to 20,000. Burkholder and Hennigan both folded, and Mizrachi won the pot.
