Mortensen Loses Some

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

The player in middle position opened to 350, before Carlos Mortensen bumped it up to 750. The action folded back around to the original raiser, who contemplated his decision, before just making the call, leaving 725 in chips behind.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, as Mortensen’s opponent quickly committed his remaining chips, which was called.

Mortensen: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Mortensen had been out-flopped, and couldn’t improve, as the board ran out the {8-Hearts} and {5-Hearts}.

Esfandiari Cracks Aces

We caught an exciting hand with Antonio Esfandiari, where he used a little humor, magic and luck to double-up.

Esfandiari faced a raise from an opponent to his immediate left, and tried getting a read on him by asking his name. After the player wouldn't answer, Esfandiari contemplated for a few seconds before asking for a clarification on the rules.

"Is this all-in?," Esfandiari jokingly asked the dealer as he kept inching his stack forward without releasing the chips from his hand. "How about now?," he jibed again, sliding his stack further into the pot. With a magician's flourish, Esfandiari dropped the chips, and his opponent immediately called, flipping over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

"Oops," exclaimed Esfandiari, tabling the far-behind {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, as the table chuckled. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, giving Esfandiari the nut-flush draw. "Let me run good one time!" said the excited Esfandiari after picking up the draw.

The turn came {9-Hearts}, completing Esfandiari's flush and cracking his opponent's aces. Esfandiari is now at around 9,800 in chips.

Edler Gets Liu

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

J.J. Liu opened to 350 from the hijack, before she was met with a raise to 800 from Rupert Elder to her left. The rest of the table folded, as Liu made the call, to see the flop come down {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

Both players checked their option, before doing the same, when the {2-Hearts} fell on the turn. The {a-Clubs} completed the board, as Liu checked for the third time, before Elder threw in a bet of 1,000 in chips. It was enough to take down the pot, as Liu mucked her hand.

Neilson Applying the Pressure

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

The player under the gun limped into the pot, before his opponent in the hijack raised it up to 400. Daniel Neilson was on the small blind, and opted to bump it up to 1,000.

“First of all, how much is that?” asked the original limper, looking over at the initial raise across the table.

He received the count, then opted to fold, as did the raiser, to see Neilson take down the pot.
