Kristen Bicknell Wins Event #51 and her First WSOP Bracelet ($173,922)

Nível 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
2013 WSOP Ladies Event Gold Bracelet Winner Kristen Bicknell
2013 WSOP Ladies Event Gold Bracelet Winner Kristen Bicknell

Kristen Bicknell has just bested a field of 954 players, to take down Event #51: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship, pocketing $173,922 and a white gold bracelet for her efforts. In only 120-hands, and just over five hours of play, Bicknell made her first WSOP cash a memorable one, also awarding Canada with their 10th bracelet of the series.

The final table started with the quick elimination of Cindy Kerslake , before action slowed right down, with eight-handed play lasting almost two hours.

Connie Bruce was eliminated next, when her {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} was out flopped by Chris Priday's {A-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. We then lost Amanda Baker, Eleanor Gudger, Connie Bruce and Shana Matthews in the space of just 25-hands, before being left with just three.

Both Leanne Haas and Kristen Bicknell shared most of the chips in play, as Julie Monsacre started three-handed play with just over 10 big blinds. She lasted three hands, before she committed the remainder of her stack with {k-Hearts}{9-Spades} against Kristen Bicknell's {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}, to see Monsacre miss her straight draw on the river, as we headed to heads-up play.

Heads-up lasted only seven hands before Bicknell raised to 40,000 and Haas made the call. Haas checked the {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop as Bicknell threw out a continuation bet 50,000. Haas called and checked the {j-Clubs} turn. Bicknell bet 130,000, before Haas raised to 280,000. Bicknell made the call and the {7-Hearts} river was dealt on the river. Haas thought for a moment, before moving all in for 627,000 and getting called by Bicknell after she asked for a count.

Bicknell rolled over her {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} which had Haas dominated, after she tabled her {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. A big hand to finish on, with the kicker proving the difference in the end.

A great result for the Australian (Haas), who walks away with just over $100,000, not bad for her first ever WSOP cash.

Hand #83

Shana Matthews opened once again to 35,000 from the cut off, before Leanne Haas raised it up to 75,000 from the big blind. With action back on Matthews, she made the call, as both players saw the flop come down {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Haas checked over to Matthews, who bet out 65,000, before Haas quickly came back, announcing all in, which brought a fold moments later.

Baker: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Nível 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Priday
Chris Priday

Hand #72

The action folded around to Eleanor Gudger, who opened to 25,000 from the button, before finding a call from Chris Priday on the big blind. The flop came down {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, as Priday opted to bet out 25,000. It didn’t take Gudger to long, to raise it up to 70,000, which was enough to take down the pot.

Hand #73

Eleanor Gudger opened to 25,000 once again, but this time found no callers, as she took down the blinds and antes.

Hand #74

The action folded around to Shana Matthews on the small blind, who chose to make the call, as Kristen Bicknell checked her option from the big blind. The flop came down {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}, as Matthews reached for her chips, and put out a bet of 18,000. Bicknell then bumped it up to 45,000, as Matthews thought about her next move. A minute passed, before Matthews slid in a raise to 110,000, which was enough to take down the pot, as Bicknell mucked her hand moments later.

Hand #75

Eleanor Haas opened to 25,000, and watched as the rest of the table folded their hands.

Hand #76

Connie Bruce opened to 35,000, before she was met with an all in for 108,000 from Chris Priday on her left. The action folded back around to Bruce, who paused for just a moment, before making the call.

Bruce: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Priday: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Priday was in front with her pocket sixes, but that didn’t last long, as the flop came down {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, giving Bruce the lead with an over-pair, and eliminating the possibility of Priday winning with a flush. Drawing to one of the two remaining sixes in the deck, Bruce would find no help, as the board ran out the {10-Hearts} and {7-Spades} to see her eliminated in 8th place.

Hand #38

Cindy Kerslake
Cindy Kerslake

Hand #16: Amanda Baker raised to 21,000 and Eleanor Gudger called from the button. Both players checked the {3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Baker check-called the {2-Clubs} turn after Gudger bet 20,000. Baker checked the {a-Spades} river and Gudger bet 30,000. Baker called with {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Gudger showed {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Baker took the first pot that went to the river.

Hand #17: Cindy Kerslake moved all in for her final 59,000 from early position. Baker, on her direct left, made the call.

Kerslake: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Baker: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Kerslake survived the {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop and the [a] turn. It would be the {10-Diamonds} river that gave Baker a set and would send Cindy home in 9th place.
