Obrestad Wins Blind Versus Blind

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Annette Obrestad called 400 in the big blind after the small blind raised. They took a flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. The small blind checked and Obrestad bet 600. Her opponent called. The turn came the {9-Diamonds} and this time Obrestad bet 1300 when it was checked to her. Her opponent called again and they saw the river of {j-Spades}.

This time both players checked and Obrestad flipped up {4-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a pair of fours. This was good enough to take the pot and she now sits with over 11,000.

Saul's Kings Can't Hold

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

We saw Kevin Saul and another opponent get in a preflop raising war as we walked by the table, and eventually, all of the chips went in the middle, with Saul being the one who was all in.

Saul: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The flop was safe for Saul, coming down {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, but the {a-Hearts} on the turn changed everything. Saul was looking for a king and a king only, but the river was the {9-Clubs}, ending Saul's Day in level five.

Pope's Run Good Continues

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Trevor Pope
Trevor Pope

In the first open event of the summer, Trevor Pope put on a performance unlike any we had ever seen, when he absolutely dominated the end of Event #2 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Eight Handed. Well he has channeled a bit of that hot streak in a hand we just saw, where he doubled up on the river.

Action started with a middle position raise to 400, and Pope moved all in for his last 3,250. The player right behind him then shoved all in over the top, having Pope slightly covered. Pope said that he hoped he had live cards, and when the hands were revealed, he saw that he was indeed drawing very life.

Pope: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

"I tend to run good in these spots just so you know," Pope joked with his opponent. The flop brought plenty of action, coming down {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Pope could now catch a king, queen, or eight to win the hand, and while the turn didn't do that, the {5-Spades}, the river did, coming down the {k-Hearts}. Pope and a couple table mates shared a laugh over his continued good luck, and he secured the double up just over an hour before dinner break.
