DJ MacKinnon Eliminated in 5th Place ($77,491)

Nível 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
DJ MacKinnon
DJ MacKinnon

Hand #102: Taylor Paur made it 60,000 under-the-gun and everybody folded.

Hand #103: DJ MacKinnon opened the button for 65,000 and from the small blind Taylor Paur raised it up to 140,000. As Weiss folded, MacKinnon took a glance at Barlow's short stack. That didn't prevent him from shoving all in though and unfortunately for him, he was met with a snap call.

MacKinnon showed his {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} but was up against the only better starting hand available: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. The board didn't do him any good, by the time the dealer was getting the river out there he only had one out left, and didn't hit: {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} | {5-Hearts} | {Q-Hearts}.

Alex Barlow Eliminated in 4th Place ($106,027)

Nível 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Alexander Barlow
Alexander Barlow

Hand #104: Alex Barlow still had a straight face but inside he must have been pretty happy with the kings versus aces hand which guaranteed him a $28,000 pay jump. The next hand it was time to get his 115,000 in though.

He got a call from Taylor Paur in the small blind and Roy Weiss in the big blind. Paur and Weiss checked the hand on the flop and turn: {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} | {3-Spades}. The dealer put the {A-Hearts} on the table and Paur bet out 60,000. Weiss folded and Paur showed his {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a rivered top pair. Barlow mucked his cards but the dealer tabled them anyway because it was an all in and a call situation. Barlow was rivered with his {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and had to leave the tournament.

Tai Nguyen Eliminated in 3th Place ($147,220)

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Tai Nguyen
Tai Nguyen

Hand #156: Taylor Paur made it 80,000 from the button and he received a call from Tai Nguyen who was seated in the big blind. Nguyen checked to Paur on {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Paur made a 85,000 continuation-bet. Nguyen looked at his chips and then cut out 210,000 for a raise. Paur moved him all in and Nguyen immediately made the call for his 930,000 total stack.

Paur showed his {A-Spades}{K-Spades} and was in front against Nguyen's {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}. Both had a flush draw but Paur's was just a little better. The {J-Spades} on the turn gave both players a flush but Paur's wasn't sure to be seating heads up yet. The {8-Spades} could still ruin the party and for a second the rail and players thought it hit the river. The {6-Spades} was close, but no cigar, for Nguyen who exited in third place.

Roy Weiss Eliminated in 2nd Place ($211,794)

Nível 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Roy Weiss
Roy Weiss

Hand 243: Once again, Roy Weiss moved all in and Paur made the call.

Paur: {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Weiss: {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Paur was already in front when the dealer put the {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Spades} onto the felt. As soon as Paur's rail realized their hero had paired his ace they erupted into raptures. The turn was the {A-Clubs} improving Paur to trip aces, and his rail went nuts! However, the noise soon lowered when everyone realised Weiss had picked up a club flush draw. The river was red, it was the {Q-Hearts} and with that Paur had won his first bracelet and the noise from his rail almost lifted the roof off the Rio.

Taylor Paur Wins Event #18: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($340,260)

Nível 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Event 18 Gold Bracelet Winner Taylor Paur
Event 18 Gold Bracelet Winner Taylor Paur

After navigating a field of 2,017 players over three days, Taylor Paur was crowned the champion of Event#18: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em taking home $340,260 and his first WSOP bracelet.

We started the day with 14 players and all eyes were on Phil Ivey, even as Paur was the chip leader. He maintained the chip lead through out most of the day only giving it up for a brief time in heads up play. Paur remained dominate as we watched the eliminations of Phil Ivey, Nick Colbrese, Adam Sanders, Robert Deppe and James Epner to get to our official final table.

Just like the start of the day, Paur began the final table with the chip lead and put those chips to work early. It only took 13 hands to see our first eliminations when both Ryan Austin and Kyle Cartwright found themselves all in against Paur. Austin started the hand with more chips and as such was eliminated in 8th and Cartwright in 9th place.

The next person to go was Daniel Idema, in seventh place, just 10 hands later by DJ MacKinnon. Phillip Hui finished in sixth place after being pretty quiet during the day's play. He tried to make a move when action folded to him on the button but unfortunately for him, Alex Barlow in the big blind woke up with queens.

DJ MacKinnon was our next casualty leaving in fifth place after he found himself all in with kings against Paur's aces. Following MacKinnon, was Alex Barlow in fourth place. Barlow was on the extreme short stack after MacKinnon and he doubled up Tai Nguyen a few hands earlier.

Paur began three-handed play with a significant chip lead (5,000,000) over his opponents, Roy Weiss (745,000) and Tai Nguyen (475,000). Paur continued to dominate play at the final table raising or reraising almost every hand. The only play Weiss and Nguyen had was to move all in. Which Nguyen did one time too many, leaving the tournament in 3rd place.

Paur entered heads up play with a 4:1 chip lead over Weiss. Paur remained in control of the match until Weiss caught some lucky cards to take the chip lead for a short time. However, when the players went to dinner, Paur was back on top with 4,250,000 of the 6,000,000 chips in play. Weiss changed his strategy at dinner time and instead of calling most of Paur's bets, he began moving all in on every hand. At one point, Weiss took over the lead and had Paur all in for his tournament. Luckily for Paur, he won that hand and five hands later claimed victory over Roy Weiss, our second place finisher.
