Day 2 of Event #16, the $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship Enters the Round of 32
After full day of heads-up action here at the Rio pared the field from 162 players to the Round of 32, we are set to begin Day 2 of the the $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship. Many of the most respected pros in the game entered this event with hopes of proving their heads-up mettle, and with a $331,190 prize awaiting our winner, every one of them brought their best game.
Among the notable names to fall on Day 1 were Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Selbst, Jonathan Duhamel, Tom Marchese, Dario Minieri, Ben Lamb, and Paul Volpe. The fact that so many decorated pros of this stature came up short speaks to the high level of skill that this event attracts every year, and today's Round of 32 will feature many of the best players in the world today.
Headlining the fourth round of competition today will be the WSOP's all-time bracelet winner, and poker's most polarizing personality, Phil Hellmuth. Looking to add another gold bracelet to to his record setting haul, Hellmuth is just five heads-up matches away from his ultimate goal.
There are several other top-flight professionals joining Hellmuth in the Round of 32, including Jason Mercier, Phil Galfond, Michael Mizrachi, Melanie Weisner, Sam Trickett, and Justin Bonomo.
The full table draw can be found below, and for the 16 to players who emerge from this extremely tough segment of the tournament bracket, a cash of $26,237 awaits. From there the payouts will double each time the field is halved, until our last two competitors sit across the table to play for a gold bracelet, and $331,190 in prize money.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm
Phil Hellmuth is the first player to arrive here in the Amazon Room's Tan section, bucking his usual habit of arriving to tournaments fashionably late.
Although we are scheduled to start at 2:00pm PST, as was the case yesterday, a few logistical delays have occurred to push the tournament's start back a few minutes.
The "Poker Brat" appears calm and determined as he paces near his table, and it is clear he came to play today in pursuit of a historic 14th WSOP bracelet win.

In this heads-up event, you have the option of cashing in both of your lammers at the start, and starting with a full stack, or you can cash one or two of them in when you bust or lose a bunch of chips. Today, only five of the 32 players have opted to go with a full stack of 240,000: Phil Galfond, Micah Raskin, Randy Lew, Craig Bergeron, and Justin Smith.
Mizrachi Moves In, Moves Sulsky Off the Hand

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has staked himself to an early lead in his match against Ben Sulsky, with a successful all-in move on the river.
With the board reading 
, Mizrachi tapped the table and checked the action to Sulsky, who responded with a bet of 14,500. Mizrachi plunked out a stack of pink T5000 tournament chips, raising to 30,500, and Sulsky came along to the see the 
fall on the river.
With that, Mizrachi instantly announced himself all-in, and Sulsky quickly released his hand.
Eslami Draws First Blood

Lew Turns Straight

Fabrizio Gonzalez had the button and opened to 4,000. Randy Lew three-bet to 12,000 and Gonzalez flat called. The two took in a flop that read 
and Lew continued for 11,000. Gonzalez called and the rolled off on fourth street. Lew bet 24,000 on this street and Gonzalez tanked for about thirty seconds before moving all in for the rest of his stack. Lew snapped him off.

Gonzalez flopped a set of fives but was ultimately behind Lew's turned straight. Gonzalez failed to fill up or catch quads on the river and Lew was able to take all of Gonzalez's active chips, making him dip into both lammers. Both players are now sitting on stacks with all of the chips in play.
