Cahlik Creeping Up

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

A few minutes before the break, Sean Small raised to 800 from the cutoff, and Josh Cahlik threebet to 2,200 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and Small, still stacking chips won in the previous hand, flashed the {A-Clubs} before folding. Cahlik showed the {A-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Shortly thereafter, Cahlik pulled off a "big bluff," according to Small. Another player at the table nodded seriously in agreement, but Cahlik laughed and termed it a "stupid" bluff. Cahlik said he called a raise with {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} from the big blind and saw the {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop. Both players checked, and the {k-Spades} turned. Cahlik let out 1,200 and his opponent declared she couldn't beat the board, showing {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} before mucking. Cahlik then showed the bluff, word of which is spreading around the room like wildfire.

Keokham Survives

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The player under the gun opened to 1,100. Both the hijack, Vince Keokham, and the small blind called.

The flop fell {5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The small blind checks and the player under the gun continued for 1,200. Keokham moved all in for 3,725 and the small blind, who had Keokham covered, also moved all in causing the player under the gun to fold.

Keokham showed {Q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and his opponent turned up {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. The {a-Clubs} on the turn gave the player under the gun top two pair but Keokham was saved when the {6-Clubs} was dealt for a rivered flush.

Brett Collson
Brett Collson

A player in middle position opened to 1,500 and Brett Collson called on the button.

The flop came down {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} and the middle-position player shoved for about 3,500. Collson called instantly and tabled {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, well ahead of his opponent's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The {K-Clubs} and {3-Spades} river were safe for Collson to score the elimination.

Etienne Goes Bust

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Wesley Etienne jammed his last 1,575 into an unopened pot from middle position. His opponent called on the button with {a-}{10-} and was in front of Etienne's {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. A {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop brought numerous outs for Etienne, but the {5-Spades} turn and {a-Hearts} river gave him nothing, and he was eliminated.

Fridley Makes Quads

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Matt Fridley limped from middle position, and a player in late position shipped all in. Everyone else folded, and Fridley quickly called with {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}. His opponent flipped over {3-}{3-}, needing another trey to improve. He got it when the dealer laid out {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. but was now drawing dead to Fridley's quads. A {4-Hearts} and {j-Diamonds} finished out the board, and Fridley's opponent whipped out his iPhone to document the unlikely elimination scenario.

Whitmore Doubles Up

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

An early position player raised the pot to 600. Richie Whitmore, in middle position, put in his remaining 3,875. Whitmore's {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} dominated his opponent's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

A flop of {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} gave his opponent a set to take the lead. The {9-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river gave Whitmore the winning hand and a much needed double up.

Rozansky Sends Two to Rail

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Scott Rozansky, holding {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}, found himself against two all in players with {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} and {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} on a board of {j-}{7-}{2-}. "Gimme a nine," he growled, and the dealer quickly obliged, turning over the {9-Hearts}. The {10-Diamonds} on the river helped nobody, and Rozansky, who said he lost nearly all of his starting stack on one of the first hands, now ranks among the top stacks in the tournament.
