Paur Lightens Gee's Stack, Takes Chip Lead

Taylor Paur took the chip lead on the last hand.
Taylor Paur took the chip lead on the last hand.

Taylor Paur opened for 100,000 under the gun and Steven Gee made it 260,000 to play from middle position. The blinds released and Paur called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {K-Clubs}, Paur checked, Gee bet 160,000 and Paur called. The turn came {5-Clubs}, Paur led out for 480,000 and Gee called. The river came {2-Diamonds} and Paur took a few minutes to bet 1,200,000.

Gee tanked for a good while and his body language signaled he wasn't happy with Paur's bet. Gee hemmed and hawed and ultimately mucked his hand, surrendering the million plus pot to Paur.

Max Ovseyevitz Eliminated in 76th Place ($88,070)

Max Ovseyevitz open shoved for his last 755,000 from middle position. Jordan Batt looked down at his cards and moved all in over the top for 2,525,000. Amit Makhija tanked for about two minutes from the small blind before folding. He later informed the table that he folded pocket jacks.

Batt: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Ovseyevitz: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Ovseyevitz was unable to improve, ending his Main Event at the hands of Batt. Batt is now sitting on a stack of about 3,350,000 in chips.

Van Alphen Five-Bets

The action folded to Jacob Balsiger on the button, who opened to 100,000. Dutchman Niels van Alphen three-bet to 250,000 from the big blind, and Balsiger four-bet to 475,000. Niels grabbed two towers of green T25,000 chips, and five-bet to 1.2 million.

Balsiger quickly folded, and van Alphen shipped the pot.

Hille Tears Up The Table; Eric Buchman Eliminated in 74th Place ($88,070); Andrew Flaherty Eliminated in 75th Place ($88,070)

Eric Buchman
Eric Buchman

Andrew Flaherty had been short for quite some time, and he just pushed all in for his final 130,000 chips. The action was folded to Eric Buchman, and he called from the small blind. Table chip leader Elisabeth Hille gave it some thought, and called from the big blind.

The flop came down {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and both players checked quickly.

On the turn the {7-Hearts} hit, and Buchman moved all in for 775,000 chips. Hille double checked her cards, and called rather quickly.

"Do you have a flush?" Buchman asked with a worried look on his face.

"No. Two pair," Hille said, and Buchman's look turned from disgust into disbelief.

"What do you have?" Buchman asked Flaherty who turned over {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The former November Nine finalist showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, and both were trailing Hille's {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds}, and both Buchman and Flaherty were eliminated. After finishing fourth in 2009, Buchman made another very impressive run, but his tournament ended on Day 6.

Vanessa Selbst Eliminated in 73rd Place ($88,070)

Vanessa Selbst All In
Vanessa Selbst All In

Action folded around to Vanessa Selbst, who became the first woman to win a bracelet in an open event since she did it in 2008 (she won Event 52: $2,500 10-Game Mix - Six-Handed earlier this summer), and she moved all in for 750,000 from the button. The small blind got out of the way, but Greg Merson made the call from the big blind.

Showdown
Selbst: {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Merson: {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

According to our PokerNews Odds Calculator, Selbst had a 33.71% chance of winning the hand, but that improved to 45.35% when the flop came down {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades} and gave her a pair. While she was currently out in front, Merson's overs and flush draw made him the favorite in the hand.

The {6-Hearts} turn gave Merson an added gut-shot straight draw, but his chances of winning did drop to 40.90% with one card to come. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {9-Diamonds}. It was a dagger through Selbst's heart as Merson made his straight and put an end to her deep run in 73rd place, good for $88,070.

Gee's Accidental Call Eliminates Nick DiVella in 72nd Place ($106,056)

Nick DiVella has been eliminated. Like all who are knocked out of the Main Event, he's probably wondering what might have been, although in his case the last hand in particular is likely foremost in his thoughts.

DiVella announced he was all in from early position, setting out a stack of orange chips as he did, and the dealer repeated his declaration. It was folding around the table when one player asked how much DiVella was in for, and it was clarified he was all in for 675,000 total.

It folded to Steven Gee on the button who tossed out 75,000. He'd missed the all-in declaration, and had thought the raise was only for 75,000 (actually less than what the minimum raise would be during this level) and he was calling. The floor was called over, and it was determined that Gee had called the all-in raise. The blinds folded, then DiVella showed his {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Gee's hand was turned over to show he had {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and DiVella was still ahead, but the {7-Spades} landed on the turn to pair Gee. The river was the {8-Clubs}, and DiVella was eliminated.

Wolpert Doubles Through Israelashvili

Leo Wolpert doubled with Ben Yu's encouragement from the rail.
Leo Wolpert doubled with Ben Yu's encouragement from the rail.

Roland Israelashvili opened for 115,000 in early position and Leo Wolpert shoved on the button for 705,000. The blinds released and Israelashvili called.

Israelashvili: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Wolpert: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

The flop ran {4-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and Ben Yu was on the rail calling for a diamond. The turn came {K-Spades} and Yu only started yelling louder. Wolpert smiled at Yu's enthusiasm and stayed calm. The river peeled {6-Diamonds} and Wolpert doubled up.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! The dream is still alive!" Yu cheered from the rail.

Buckenmayer Doubles

Amnon Filippi opened to 115,000 from middle position, Robert Buckenmayer three-bet to 300,000 from the hijack seat, and Filippi made the call. The dealer fanned {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and Filippi checked. Buckenmayer moved all in for 1.09 million, and Filippi tank-called.

Filippi{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Buckenmayer{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The turn and river came {q-Spades}, {5-Spades} respectively, and Buckenmayer doubled to over 2 million chips.

"Really thought he was bluffing there," Filippi said after the hand.
