Makhija Doubles Through Jejelowo

Marcia Topp had raised from the hijack and A.J. Jejelowo reraised to 200,000 from the small blind, which was enough to get Topp to fold. On the very next hand, it was Amit Makhija raising from the hijack seat for 76,000, and when it folded to Jejelowo he again reraised to 200,000. The blinds got out, and after thinking for a half-minute Makhija pushed all in for 785,000 total. Jejelowo considered for a short while, then called the shove.

Makhija: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Jejelowo: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The flop came {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Spades}, which didn't help Makhija. The {K-Hearts} turn did provide some extra outs, however. Makhija stood by the table and watched as the dealer delivered the river — the {Q-Diamonds}. Makhija had paired his queen to survive.

As Makhija sat back down to collect his chips, the announcement came over the public address noting that Kyle Bowker had just been eliminated in 84th place. Since the field shrunk to 100, they have announced the names of each player knocked out.

"That could have been me," Makhija said, still smiling with relief about that river card.

Ladouceur Doubles Through Baker

David ODB Baker popped it up to 80,000 from middle position. Action folded to Marc Ladouceur's button and he three-bet all in for 730,000. It folded back to Baker who quickly called to find out that the two were in the classic race situation.

Ladouceur: {Q-}{Q-}
Baker: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The board gave Ladouceur a set of queens and left Baker looking for a jack to make Broadway when it fell {7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The {8-Hearts} dropped down on the turn and the {K-Spades} on the river, securing Ladouceur's double to about 1,500,000 in chips.

Bronshtein Plays Nice, Profits

Yuval Bronshtein limped in from under the gun, and when it folded all of the way back to Gwennael Grandmougin in the small blind he called. Jordi Martinezalonso then checked from the big blind. "I'm such a nice guy," said Bronshtein, and the three saw a cheap flop come {3-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

It checked to Bronshtein who bet 77,000, and only Grandmougin called. The turn was the {9-Spades}, and both players checked.

The river brought the {10-Diamonds}. This time Grandmougin bet 105,000, and after a pause Bronshtein raised to 335,000. Grandmougin tanked for some time, riffling his chips quickly as he thought. "Call," he finally said, and Bronshtein turned over {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the nut straight.

"Nice day to run good," came the comment from across the table, and Bronshtein nodded while stacking the chips.

On the turn the {6-Diamonds} hit, and Dean checked once more. Malherbe counted out another bet, and fired 220,000. Dean took his time, and called.

Ladouceur Takes Some From Baumann

Gaelle Baumann raised to 80,000 from under the gun and received a call from Marc Ladouceur in the big blind. The dealer produced a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Ladouceur led out for 95,000. Baumann quickly tossed in a call and the {10-Hearts} turned.

Ladouceur continued with his aggression, making it 215,000. Baumann called once again, and the river was the {8-Clubs}. Ladouceur fired a third barrel and Baumann went into the tank for about three minutes before calling. Ladouceur showed {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a straight and Baumann mucked her hand. This pot brings Ladouceur's stack up to about 2,600,000.
