Maag Over Eight Million

Robert Corcione opened to 150,000 from early position and Nicco Maag from the small blind was his only caller. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Maag checked. Corcione continued for 220,000 and Maag called. The {2-Hearts} on the turn paired the board and both players checked.

They both checked for a second time when the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river. Maag showed {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Corcione mucked his hand. Maag is now sitting over eight million in chips.

Eric Pratt Eliminated in 61st Place ($128,384)

Eric Pratt opened for 125,000 from the button, and Jonathan Schoder called from the big blind. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Schoder checked, Pratt continued for 150,000, and after a pause Schoder raised to 300,000. Pratt made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}. This time Schoder led for 375,000, and after waiting several moments Pratt announced he was all in. Schoder took a long time — more than five minutes — deciding what to do, often shaking his head and half-smiling, showing it was a genuine struggle to decide. He counted out his chips, determining that he only had Pratt covered by a couple hundred thousand.

Finally he tossed out some chips and said call. Pratt patted the felt in response, and Schoder pumped his fist realizing he'd made the right decision. Schoder showed {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} for nines with an ace kicker, while Pratt turned over {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Someone across the table congratulated Schoder on the call, to which he said "I could only beat a bluff." "Or queen-nine," said Pratt with a grin, and Schoder nodded. There was still one card to come, and when it came the {5-Spades}, Pratt departed in 61st place.

Strelitz Part 2: Eliminating Eric Legoff in 60th Place ($128,384)

From the hijack seat, Daniel Strelitz raised to 120,000. Eric Legoff reraised all in from the button for about 1.5 million and play folded back to Strelitz. He called with the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Legoff had the {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

A board of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} kept the eights in front for Strelitz and he busted Legoff to move to nearly eight million in chips.
