Moar Bacon

Adam Schwartz, co-host of the very popular TwoPlusTwo PokerCast sponsored by the PokerStars VIP club, limped in from the small blind, and Benjamin Alcober raised to 7,000 from the big. Schwartz called.

The flop fell {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, and Schwartz checked to Alcober, who continued for 6,300. Schwartz called.

The turn was the {k-Clubs}, and Schwartz checked again. Alcober tossed out 13,500, and Schwartz check-raised to 50,700. Alcober tank-folded, and Schwartz raked in the pot.

Lamb Takes a Hit

Last year's third-place finisher and WSOP Player of the Year Ben Lamb just took a big hit to his stack. After raising to 6,500 from early position, a player on the button reraised to 32,500. It folded back to Lamb who reraised all in, and his opponent called for 94,600 total.

Lamb had {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}, but needed help versus his opponent's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. But the board came {7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Lamb is now down to about a dozen big blinds.

Timex Doing Just Fine

Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

Mike "Timex" McDonald opened up the pot to 6,500 from middle position. The player in the hijack made the call, along with the big blind, and the dealer turned over a {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop.

The big blind checked here and McDonald bet 11,100. The hijack quickly raised it to 22,200 and the big blind folded. McDonald made the call and both players checked the {7-Hearts} turn and the {10-Diamonds} river. At showdown, McDonald said, "ace-high" and his opponent responded by tabling {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} - enough to rake in the pot.

Despite losing this small pot, McDonald has had a fairly solid afternoon, seeing his chip stack increase from 225,000 at the start of the day, to around 300,000 right now. For those not familiar with McDonald, he has more than $4 million in live tournament winnings on his poker resume, with the bulk of that coming in his victory in the EPT Dortmund Main Event in 2008. However, McDonald has also had plenty of success at the World Series of Poker, making two final tables over his career, including finishing in sixth place in this year's Event 49: $1,500 Ante-Only No-Limit Hold'em.

Rice Steamrolling

Over in the Blue section of the Amazon room, we found an early position player make it 7,500. Sean Rice, who is one of the biggest stacks in the room, was the only player to call.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and both players checked. The {8-Clubs} brought a fourth club to the board on the turn. Rice's opponent checked and Rice took a stab with 11,500. Rice's opponent quickly shot his hand away and Rice was able to add a little bit more to his already massive stack.

Lamb Eliminated

Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

After losing most of his stack in that jacks versus queens hand, just a few hands later Ben Lamb was open-raising all in for about 29,000 from middle position. It folded to Chris Moorman in the small blind who called the raise, the big blind folded, and the players turned over their hands.

Moorman: {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Lamb: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}

There was a brief pause while the ESPN camera crew found their places, then the dealer burned a card and delivered the {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop. Moorman had assumed the lead, while Lamb sat with a stoic look, focusing on the board.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and Lamb was down to a couple of outs to save him. The river then brought the {J-Diamonds}, and with about 920 players left, Lamb was standing and shaking the hands of his table mates, his 2012 WSOP Main Event run having ended.

Mercier Adds Some More

Jason Mercier was down to 120,000 when we broke for dinner, but he has added to that stack since we've returned. In the latest hand, we saw that he was heads up with John Leathart on a board that read {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. There was about 60,000 in the middle, and Mercier fired out 27,700 after Leathart checked. Leathart kicked his cards in, and Mericer took in the chips.

After that pot, Mercier is up to 155,000.
