Rajkumar Drops One

Vivek Rajkumar raised to 7,500 from early position and got a single caller from the player on the button. The flop came {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and when Rajkumar continued with a bet of 6,000, his opponent called. The turn brought the {4-Diamonds}. This time Rajkumar checked, the button bet 12,000, and Rajkumar called.

The river was the {10-Spades}. Rajkumar checked once more, and his opponent bet 25,000. Rajkumar made the call, then saw his opponent turn over {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a set of sixes, prompting Rajkumar to muck his hand.

Alcober Loses To Quads

Action started with Robert Peltekci, who raised to 6,500 in early position. It folded around to our chip leader Benjamin Alcober, and he three bet it to 13,500 on the button. The blinds folded, and Peltekci made the call.

The two players checked on the flop, {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and the turn, the {2-Diamonds}. The river brought the {10-Spades}, and Peltekci grabbed two stacks of yellow T1,000 chips, and slid them into the middle. It was a bet of 61,000, and Alcober tanked for about a minute before calling.

Peltekci nodded his head and made a hand motion that made some at the table think he was indicating "nice hand", and Alcober tabled {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. However, Peltekci then tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for quads, and said "there we go!" Once he collected the chips, we saw that he was up to 250,000, while Alcober drops to 900,000.

And Alcober Gets It Right Back

Just a few hands after losing 75,000 to quads, we saw that Benjamin Alcober got pretty much all of it back. We don't know the exact action, but we know that Alcober and another player, who had about 70,000, got it all in on a flop of {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. His opponent held {a-}{k-} for top two pair, but it was no good, as Alcober showed {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} for bottom set. We know the {5-Clubs} hit the turn, and while we didn't catch the river card, we know that it sealed the victory for Alcober.

Alcober collected the bounty, and shot right back up to 970,000.

A Solid Turn and River For Selbst

We caught up with the action on a flop of {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} to see Jared Jaffe and Vanessa Selbst engaged in a battle of the blinds.

Jaffe checked and Selbst fired out 3,500. Jaffe called and the turn was the {7-Hearts}. Another check to Selbst and she fired out 9,000 this time around. Jaffe called once again.

Fifth street brought the {K-Clubs} and it was checked to Selbst again. She bet 24,000 and Jaffe thought for a moment before flinging in a call. Selbst showed {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for two pair. Jaffe let out a laugh and threw his cards into the muck. Jaffe is now down to 88,000 while Selbst is sitting on 265,000.

Anaya Doubles Through Buxhoeveden at Feature

Action folded to Lance Keating and he made it 6,500 to go. As the shortest stack at the table, Alejandro Anaya took this opportunity to move all in for 48,800. Right next door, Erik Buxhoeveden moved all in over the top. Keating folded and the hands were turned up:

Anaya: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Buxhoeveden: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

Anaya was behind and was looking for a ten. Fortunately for him, that's exactly what he found on the flop of {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Buxhoeveden would need a jack or a queen to send Anaya home, but did not find them on the {6-Hearts} turn and the {7-Hearts} river.

This hand left Buxhoeveden cripped with only 37,400 in chips.

Value Town

Brock Parker and an opponent were heads up on a board of {4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. According to Ray Chiu, there was a raise and three calls preflop, and a bet and only one call on the flop.

On the turn, Parker fired 33,000, and his opponent called. The {10-Hearts} completed the board, and Parker checked. His opponent tossed out a measly 20,000, and Parker chuckled, then called.

Parker's opponent turned over {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a full house, and shipped the pot.

Two In a Row For Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

In the first hand, a player raised in early position and was called by Daniel Negreanu in the big blind.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Negreanu checked to his opponent - who fired 7,500 into the middle. Negreanu then check-raised to 17,000 and his opponent quickly folded.

In the very next hand, the player on the button opened for 6,200 and just Negreanu called from the small blind.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Negreanu check-called a 6,000 c-bet from his opponent.

The turn brought the {8-Diamonds} and Negreanu opted to lead out for 13,600. His opponent called.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board and Negreanu fired 15,000 and change. His opponent snap-folded and Negreanu scooped again.

Negreanu has re-built his stack to 170,000 since returning from dinner.

Sorel Plays It Safe

We came upon this one with about 80,000 in the middle, the board showing {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and Sorel Mizzi facing an all-in shove for 289,000 by his opponent sitting to his right. Mizzi had almost exactly that left behind — just a touch less — and so the decision whether or not to call was a crucial one.

Mizzi tanked for a couple of minutes, finally tossing his cards away. "You have a set?" he asked his neighbor, who initially resisted answering. Mizzi then offered further incentive for him to tell.

"I had {10-}{8-}," Mizzi said, at which his opponent flipped over his hand — {A-Spades}{K-Spades}. "Wow," said Mizzi, who then offered a fist bump of congratulations to his neighbor.
