Cody Pushes Them Out

Jake Cody opened with a raise to 1,350 and received one call. The player on the button threw out a three-bet, making it 3,125 to go. The big blind flat called this bet and action was back on Cody.

Cody dipped into his stack and came out with a four-bet to 10,250. The original caller folded and the button tanked for over two minutes before letting his hand go. The big blind also got out of the way and Cody was able to take down a nice sized pot without ever having to see a flop.

Eichhorn Accumulating

Daniel Eichhorn is here today, looking to extend what has already been a successful 2012 WSOP with three cashes, including a final table in Event 59: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Just now he was involved in a hand in which the action had reached the river with the board showing {5-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. His opponent had checked, Eichhorn had fired a bet of 20,000 — about the size of the pot — and his opponent was thinking what to do. Finally he folded, and Eichhorn exhaled loudly as he scooped the chips.

Karr Catches The River

We walked up to the table on the river, with the board showing {4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. There was about 9,000 in the middle, and McLean Karr had thrown out a bet of 3,975. His lone opponent was in the tank for about a minute while we were there. Eventually, he grabbed the chips, and rolled them into the middle for the call. Karr flipped over {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a rivered pair of aces, and his opponent mucked.

Karr shot back up to 87,000 after that hand.

Brandon Not Broke

Brandon Adams, author of the poker-themed novel Broke, presently sits with just under 100,000 — about two-thirds of the stack with which he started Day 2c.

Just now Adams was prepared to put it all at risk in a hand in which three players had built a pot of about 5,000 to see a {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop.

A player in middle position began with a bet of 2,800 from middle position, a player a couple of seats over folded, then Adams raised to 8,400 from the button. His lone remaining opponent made it 29,000 to go, then Adams reraised all in, and after much thought his opponent let it go.

Hansen Loves The Ladies

A player opened to 1,500 and received calls from both Gus Hansen and the player on the button.

The flop came {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. The original raiser continued for 2,200 and Hansen decided to stick around. The button folded and the two were heads up to the turn of {J-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the river was the {3-Spades}. Hansen's opponent bet 6,150 and Hansen called.

Hansen's opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for ace-high and Hansen showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and was able to take down the pot.

Not Ready to Commit Versus Sumit

Sumit Kumar opened for 1,250 from early position, and it folded around to an opponent in late position who reraised to 3,025. The others got out, and Kumar made it 8,025 to go. His opponent then five-bet to 14,075, prompting yet another reraise from Kumar, this time to 26,050, which caused his opponent immediately to fold.

Spinning Chips Away

One of cricket's all-time greatest players Shane Warne is in the field and having a go at making a name for himself in the poker world. We recently arrived at Warne's table with a {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop out on the felt and with 10,000 already in the pot.

At this point Warne's opponent led for 3,650 and Warne made the call. Both players then checked the {9-Hearts} turn and it was on to the {q-Spades} river. Warne's opponent shoved all in for around 11,000 here and Warne thought deeply for almost a minute before folding his hand and sending the pot away from his stack.

For your information, Warne's largest career poker cash came in 2010 when he finished third in the $10,000 buy-in event at the Victorian Poker Championships in Australia - an event which Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis won. That was worth a $40,000 to Warne and was his first and only five-figure poker score. Let's see if he can add another one with a deep run here in the World Series of poker Main Event.
