Plenty of Time
With a starting stack of 20,000 and blinds starting at 25/50 there’s a lot of time to chip up and see some flops, but it doesn’t always work out that way. On table 4 two players got into a pre-flop raising war and action went all the way to the river.
From the cut-off, Jacob Hicklin from The Isle of Man was first to enter the pot and raised to 125. He was then three bet to 400 by David Kilpatrick in the small blind. The big blind left them to it and Hicklin decided to four bet to 1,100. Back to Kilpatrick and we saw a five bet to 2,500. It looked for a moment like we might see all the chips in the middle on the first level, but Hicklin decided to see a flop in position and just called.
The table fell respectfully quiet as the dealer dealt a flop of 
. The Kilpatrick checked as did seat Hicklin. The turn was the 
. Again Kilpatrick checked and this time seat Hicklin decided to bet a small 1,600 which was called. The turn was the 
and now the Kilpatrick led out for a chunky 6,050.
There was no instant fold so it looked like Hicklin had been put in a horrible spot. He riffled his chips and studied first the board, then his opponent who sat stock still. Puffing out his cheeks he exhaled noisily and put out the call prompting Kilpatrick to turn over 
for the nut flush. It was good enough on the paired board. A very nice pot for Kilpatrick and some rebuilding to be done for Hicklin, who received a consoling “Plenty of time.” from another player.
