Michel "FreeLancerZZ" Dattani opened to 74,900 under the gun and action folded around to Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, who was on the button and called. "Korrinho" three-bet shoved for 931,000 in the small blind, and Dattani reshoved for 2.15 million to fold Astedt out of the pot.
"Korrinho":
Michel "FreeLancerZZ" Dattani:
"Korrinho" found themselves in trouble and their situation got worse on the flop as Dattani flopped a set, leaving "Korrinho" in need of hitting running nines for quads to stay alive. The turn left them drawing dead, ensuring the pot for Dattani as the river completed the runout.
Action folded around to Pauli "Fiilismies" Ayras in the cutoff and he opened to 70,000. Wiktor "limitless" Malinowski called on the button and then Simon "Igorkarkarof" Ronnow Pedersen three-bet to 700,000, effectively going all in. Action folded back to Malinowski, and he clicked the raise button, prompting to Pedersen to call off the last 1,600 in his stack.
Simon "Igorkarkarof" Ronnow Pedersen:
Wiktor "limitless" Malinowski:
Pedersen was in front and found himself securing a double by the turn, hitting a set of jacks as the board ran out .
Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev opened the action with a raise to 70,000 in middle position and Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer three-bet to 166,250 in the hijack. "Pimmss" cold four-bet to 490,000 in the small blind and Danchev five-bet jammed for 669,000.
O'Dwyer came over the top, six-bet shoving for 2.29 million and "Pimmss" made the call, bringing the total pot up to 5.31 million.
Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev:
Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer:
"Pimmss":
O'Dwyer had a four outer to fade for a stack of more than 5 million but was unable to hold as the flop came , giving the other two players top pair, top kicker. The turn and river left the situation unchanged and O'Dwyer was eliminated from the tournament, while "Pimmss" took the entire side pot and chopped the main pot with Danchev.
Francisco "Tomatee" Benitez limped in under the gun and action folded around to David "MissOracle" Yan, who completed his small blind. Niklas "Lena900" Astedt checked his option in the big blind and the flop came . Action checked to Benitez, who bet 35,000 and got a fold from Yan.
Astedt check-raised to 116,500 and Benitez called. Astedt continued on the turn , betting 147,500, and Benitez called.
The river fell and Astedt shoved for an effective pot-sized bet of the 630,000 that remained in Benitez's stack. Benitez thought for a moment, and then found a call.
Francisco "Tomatee" Benitez:
Niklas "Lena900" Astedt:
Benitez hit the full house on the river but Astedt had connected with every prior piece of the board, flopping a boat and improving to quads on the turn. He collected the pot and increased his stack to over 5 million.
"Pimmss" was under the gun and opened to 73,500. Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger was next to act and three-bet to 21,000. Action folded back around to "Pimmss" and a call was made.
Both players checked the flop , bringing the turn . "Pimmss" bet 168,000 and Loeliger called. The river was and "Pimmss" shoved for an effective 860,000. Loeliger went into the tank, activating their time bank and finally making a the call.
Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger:
"Pimmss":
Loeliger's call with ace-high was no good, as "Pimmss" had pulled ahead with a pair on the flop and further improved to a straight on the turn. The pot was sent to "Pimmss" and Loeliger became the bubble boy of SCOOP Event #62-H, taking 28th place and ending Day 1 as the remaining 27 players have all made it into the money.
End-of-day chip counts and a recap of the day's action will be posted shortly.
This past Monday, the Netherlands’ ”Pimmss”outlasted a field of 578 entries in SCOOP Event #43-H, a $2,100 Progressive Knockout tournament for a total prize of over $190,000. Three days later, “Pimmss” leads the final 27 of Event #62-H [8-Max, PKO, High Roller] $1M Gtd, taking a stack of 6.57 million into the money for Friday’s Day 2.
The tournament generated 235 entries from 172 players to result in a total prize pool of $1,175,000. It took just over seven hours of play for that number to reach 27, with Day 1 ending upon reaching the money. All remaining players have $6,105 guaranteed as a result, and Friday’s winner will earn $101,026 plus a substantial amount more in bounties.
“Pimmss” has already amassed $18,750 in bounties, but will have a full day's worth of work ahead if they are to win their second SCOOP PKO title in a week's time. The names that follow in the counts provide just a glimpse into the caliber of players that filled the tournament. Juan “Malaka$tyle” Pardo (5.55 million) and Preben “prebz” Stokkan (5.51 million) are the only other two players above 5 million, and Niklas “Lena900” Astedt (4.72 million) and Pieter “XMorphineX” Aerts round out the top five, with Astedt making it through on his second bullet of the tournament.
Only six more players advanced on their second or third entries, the max allowed for the tournament, while the other 20 players got through the day on their first shot. Michel “FreeLancerZZ” Dattani (3.26 million), Joao”Naza114” Vieira (1.47 million), and Ilya “Leqenden” Anatsky found more luck on their second try than their first, while the third time was a charm for Pauli “Fiilismies” Ayras (2.15 million), Connor “blacnonegro” Drinan (795,000), and Artur “marartur1” Martirosyan, who finished the day at the bottom of the counts with a stack of 425,000.
Many were less fortunate: fresh off their heads-up battle in the SCOOP $25,000 Super High Roller, Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer and Andras “probirs” Nemeth were the first two eliminations of the tournament after losing a three-way all in to Scott “Aggro Santos” Margerseon. Nemeth’s day ultimately came to a close shortly before the registration period closed when he struck out of the tournament, and both Margereson and O’Dwyer also fell short of the money by less than 10 positions.
O’Dwyer’s elimination punctuated a flurry of eliminations that left the tournament two spots away from making it into the money. It came in a three-way all-in preflop scenario where his pocket queens were unable to hold versus two ace-kings when a king came on the flop. The shorter-stacked Dimitar “KuuL” Danchev split the main pot with “Pimms,” who scored the massive side pot to launch up the chip counts.
Fransico “Tomatee” Benitez was then eliminated by Astedt after stacks got in on the river with Benitez holding a full house to Astedt's quads. Hand-for-hand play began, and it did not take long before “Pimms” knocked out Linus “LLinusLLove” Loeliger on the bubble to result in Day 1 coming to a close with “Pimms” atop the leader board.
Day 2 resumes Friday at 1 p.m. ET in the middle of Level 19 with blinds of 17,500/35,000 and an ante of 4,500. Levels will be 30 minutes in length and the tournament will play down to a winner. PokerNews will have updates coming your way the entire length of the tournament, so make sure to come back and follow along.
