Scott Margereson

Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson opened the action with a raise to 5,280 in middle position and received calls from Andras "probirs" Nemeth on the button and Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer in the small blind. "Danila4444" called in the big blind and the four saw a flop of {5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Action checked to Nemeth, who bet 7,600. O'Dwyer raised to 26,400, prompting a raise from "Danila4444" before Margereson put in a check-three-bet to 69,600.

Nemeth went into the tank and then shoved for 238,000. O'Dwyer thought for a while and proceeded to call, and then Margereson also called, covering both players.

Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Margereson faded the spades and the one out to quads that Nemeth and O'Dwyer had as the turn {4-Clubs} and river {q-Hearts} left his set of jacks best, scoring the early double knockout and finding an early chip lead of 732,000.

More progressive knockout action is on the schedule Thursday in the PokerStars 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), as Event #62-H: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max, PKO, High Roller] looks to get underway at 1 p.m. ET.

The tournament features a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million and is sure to see many of the best No-Limit Hold’em players in the world contend for the prestige and six-figure payday that will accompany victory in this event. Players will be battling over two days in a progressive knockout format, where half of each player’s buy-in will be placed atop their heads as bounties. Each time someone earns a knockout, they receive half of that player’s bounty, while the other half is added to their own head.

Up to two re-entries are available within the late registration period, which will last sharply five hours and five minutes. Players receive starting stacks of 250,000, with blinds beginning at 1,200/2,400/300 and increasing every 20 minutes through the first 18 levels of play. Blinds will then increase to 30 minutes in length for the rest of the tournament, with play concluding for the day when the field reaches the money.

Yesterday, players such as Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer, Andras “probers” Nemeth, Tyler “Wonderboy222” Goatcher, Patrick “pads1161” Leonard were among those to add their names to the list of 2020 SCOOP champions across various tournaments. More will do so today as this tournament makes its way towards Day 2, which will resume Friday at 1 p.m. ET and play down to a winner.

PokerNews will be guiding you through the field with updates on the action as it all unfolds, so be sure to stick around.
