PokerStars Returns to Prague
After many years of the European Poker Tour (EPT) finishing its season in Prague, its rebranded PokerStars Championship is about to do the same in 2017 with 43 action-packed tournaments at the Casino Atrium Prague in Hilton Prague. Action got underway 3 days ago and the first trophies have already been awarded. Action runs till December 18.
While this is the first-ever PokerStars Championship Prague, PokerStars is far from new to visiting the Czech capital with the EPT going to the city 10 times in the past. Last year, Netherlands' Jasper Meijer van Putten outlasted a huge field of 1,192 entrants to win the €5,300 EPT Prague Main Event for €699,300. The Dutchman returned to Prague this year and has already locked up some loot, winning the €10,000 High Roller for the 2nd biggest prize of his career.
Today, the €50,000 Super High Roller kicks off. Last year, as part of the EPT, Leon Tsoukernik took down the event for €741,100.
This year, PokerNews will be bringing you feature style content, with live updates solely on the PokerStars Blog. Today's event kicks off at 12:30 (in about two hours) with players getting a 250,000 starting stack. The first level of play is 500/1,000 with an ante of 100. There are 8 levels scheduled for today, no dinner break but 20-minute breaks after every two levels. Levels will be, as per usual, 60 minutes long.
