Govert Metaal Putting His High Roller Prize to Good Use

Nível 20 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Dutch player Govert Metaal made a deep run in the £10,300 High Roller last night, and ended up cashing £20,000 for his 11th place finish. Some of those money are now being recirculated into the poker economy, as Metaal have bought into the Main Event.

Metaal hasn't had the best start so far though, as he's lost about a fifth of his 1 million chips starting stack.

Panka Flipped Out, Jumps Back In

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

Dominik Panka has busted in the first level of the day here in Nottingham, but has re-entered, so his many fans across his native Poland and indeed Europe can still cheer on their man.

Panka moved all-in pre-flop with {A-}{K-} and he was flipping for his life against Smires Fahd Bennani's pocket jacks. Panka could find no help, and while Bennani leaps to the top 10% of the chipcounts in one of Europe's most popular cardrooms, the Dusk Till Dawn Casino, Panka must try again.

"We can re-enter, right?" he asked immediately after being busted. "We can try again."

He took it extremely well and will be right back in the action just as soon as he's popped to the cash desk.

"Seat Open Table Thirtysix"

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

The first of 10 levels is in the books, and with players getting comfortable at the Dusk Till Dawn Nottingham, the unavoidable eliminations have started rolling in.

So far 10 players have been knocked out of contention, and both Kevin Houghton and Morten Bonde has been sent packing from table #36 - the table of Jack Salter. More eliminations are sure to follow as the blinds go up and the shorter stacks from the many Phase 1-tournaments are forced into getting a move on.

Boatman Not a Believer in Bertilsson

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante
Boatman may need help to get back in the upper limits of the leaderboard after an early setback on Day 1e
Boatman may need help to get back in the upper limits of the leaderboard after an early setback on Day 1e

Barny Boatman and Anton Bertilsson played out a dramatic early hand here on Day 1e of the £6 million guaranteed partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event.

We joined the action on the final street as a completed board had played out {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and with a pot of 920,000 in the middle.

Bertilsson bet 215,000 and Boatman was the one with a decision. Only sat behind 900,000 and more than 1.1 million in the middle, Boatman elected to call and was shown {J-Spades}{10-Clubs} by Bertilsson, a flopped straight good enough to win a big pot. Boatman was full of praise for his opponent.

"You bet exactly the right amount on each street. Well played." said Boatman.

The young Swede Bertilsson thanked his more decorated opponent. Boatman of course, has a WSOP bracelet to his name, along with over $3.5 million of live tournament cashes. Bertilsson is no slouch, however, and already has $1.2m in live results in the bank. He also has the chip advantage over Boatman at their table here on Day 1e.

Raising War Quashes Quinsee

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

Shah Raza was folded to in the small blind and he opened to 16,000 at 3,000/6,000/600. Jake Quinsee was in the big blind and in no mood to give up the hand, three-betting to 58,000. Undeterred, Raza made it 142,000.

Quinsee thought for some time, but eventually decided to 5-bet to 337,500. Raza 6-bet all-in for 550,700 and Quinsee made the call.

Shah Raza: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Jake Quinsee: {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The board of {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{K-Spades} paid Raza off by the turn, and he doubles to over the average and the direct buy-in starting stack of 1,000,000 chips. Quinsee has plummeted all the ay back down to 400,000, but that is still 66 big blinds, so he has plenty of time to win it back.

The Good Ol' Seven-Bet

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

With a starting stack of one million and blinds at a mere 3,000/6,000, there's nothing but room to for exciting poker hands and interesting lines of play. I mean, how often do you actually get to see a casual six-bet/fold preflop?

That just happened on one of the outer tables, as Jonathan Bowers and Christian Nilles got into quite the raising war. Bowers raided it op from the button, Nilles made it 40,000 to go out of the small blind, Jonathan Concepcion surrendered his big blind before Bowers came back over the top for 125,000.

Nilles wasn't going anywhere and put in another raise - this time to 215,000 - only to face yet another reraise to a total of 380,000, that sent the German player into the tank for quite some time.

"Sorry guys", he told the table after a few minutes of deliberation, and took another minute or so before announcing all-in for 1,3 million chips effectively.

Jonathan Bowers made a grimace of defeat before letting his hand go, and a clearly relieved Nilles dragged in the pot.

"I didn't have aces", Bowers said afterward.
"I had at least one trey", Bowers replied with a wry smile.

Every Pot Counts

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

When we went over to check on partypoker ambassador Tony Dunst's progress, it was a noticeably improved stack of 1.55m, quick work given he sat down with a million chips at kick off.

"He's won every pot. Just put 74 million." said the man sat to Dunst's direct right, John Conroy.

Dunst is not the only big name cruising along. Steve Watts and Jamie Roberts are both ahead in the game.

Steve O'Dwyer Turns Up the Heat

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante
Natalia Breviglieri
Natalia Breviglieri

For American-Irish High Roller Steve O'Dwyer a lot of chips equals a lot of action, and O'Dwyer is definitely not here to sneak his way into day two of this Millions Main Event.

First O'Dwyer took a 375,000 chips river stab on a {6-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board in a massive pot against Partypoker Pro Natalia Breviglieri (pictured), got the fold and chipped up to over 2 million. The very next hand he gave a little back, as he played a reraised pot against Jamie Bury. O'Dwyer bet 140,000 on a board of {8-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, but checked back after the river came {6-Hearts}. Bury showed {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for the flopped set and backdoored second nut flush, and that won the pot.

Also at the table of O'Dwyer and Breviglieri is well-known American player Kelly Saxby.
