Aces don't run good in this Seat

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On the very same table where Stephen Graner knocked out Adam Levy and Fedor Holz, Bryan Leskowitz was moved into seat one. He doubled up through Graner to see the latter drop back to around 200,000 before the American won a three-bet pot again after betting a queen-high flop.

One hand later, Antonin Duda raised to 2,600 and one player called, Leskowitz three-bet to 8,000 and only the Czech called. On the {8-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} flop, both players checked and Leskowitz then called a bet on the {9-Hearts} turn. Duda fired another 26,000 after the {4-Clubs} river and Leskowitz called, but his {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} were no good against the {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds} of Duda.

The other big stack at the table is Simon Boss.

Selbst Brings the Pain

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Vanessa Selbst opened for 2,500 and Sandrine Rousseau was the only caller on the button.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts} and Selbst continued for 2,400. Rousseau called and they was a turn card {2-Hearts}. Selbst bet a bit bigger now for 6,800. A few moments thought and Rousseau called again.

The river card was the {8-Clubs} and Selbst bombed it for 22,500 which represented most of Rousseau’s stack and she went in the tank. A little too deep in the tank for Emil Patel’s liking as he eventually called the clock.

Rousseau’s face was contorted with indecision as the countdown began and with six seconds remaining she finally folded her cards.

Game over for Nudin

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Alexander Nudin three-bet shoved out of the small blind for what looked like 21,000 and was called by the initial raiser with {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}. The Russian had {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and improved to a straight on the {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {J-Clubs} turn, but the {Q-Clubs} river completed a four-card flush for the opponent.

Chen Out With Aces (to 7-9 Suited)

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Andrew Chen
Andrew Chen

We ran into Andrew Chen in the hallway and he told us the story of his bust out upon request.

Chen told us that he opened under the gun with a 70,000 stack to 2,800 holding pocket aces without the ace of hearts. Tamer Kamel two seats over made it 6,100 and action folded back to Chen. Chen, who won the EPT London High Roller not too long ago for £394,200 and chopped the Master Classics of Poker Main Event in Amsterdam for another €190,000 last month, four bet to 16,800. Kamel made the call.

The flop came {10-}{8-}{3-} with two hearts and Chen shoved all in for about 53,000, expecting Kamer not to fold a hand like kings anyway. Tamer indeed did not fold, but didn't turn up with a big over pair as one might have expected. Chen's aces had to dodge a lot of outs as Kamer showed {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the open ended and straight draw.

The {K-} on the turn didn't do much, but the {J-} on the river did. Chen made his way out of the tournament area, Kamel gathered all the chips.

Boeree Versus Salter

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

We arrived at the table with the flop already showing {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

Jack Salter had checked from the big blind as did Liv Boeree from middle position. Their opponent in the hijack made it 3,700 to go as the decision fell back on Salter. He then raised it up to 10,300 which was called moments later by Boeree as well as the original better.

The {10-Diamonds} saw all three players check before the dealer produced the {6-Spades} on the river. Salter paused for a moment before betting out 13,800. Boeree then contemplated her next move for a minute before sliding out a raise to 45,000. The player in the hijack instantly mucked his hand with the play falling back on Salter. Two minutes into his tank the player in the hijack called time and a tournament director made their way to the table.

Salter clock was running down and with ten seconds to go buried his head into his arms as his time ran out. His hand was mucked and the pot was pushed over to Boeree. She then tabled her {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for top pair as she began stacking up her chips.

"Come On, I Need the Double Up!"

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Charles Chattha open pushed his last 7,000 to the middle from early position. Masato Yokosawa from Japan in the big blind wasn't too happy about it, but wasn't willing to lay his hand down either just yet. "Come On, I Need the Double Up!" Chattha laughed. That apparently convinced Yokosawa who eventually called and showed {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Chattha tabled {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

The {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} board was of no harm to Chattha who doubled his stack.

Kicker Plays

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Kenny Kousgaard opened for 2,400 from middle position and EPT Grand Final champion Pieter de Korver in the small blind was the sole caller.

De Korver check called 3,000 on {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades} and 5,000 on the {6-Diamonds} turn. The {8-Diamonds} on the river made both players check and Kousgaard showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. De Korver turned over his {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the winning hand and raked in the chips.
