Dia 1a Iniciado
The French Riviera is playing host to the 2023 PokerStars EPT presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® and the action is in full swing with the French Poker Series being the center of attention. The €2,200 FPS High Roller will begin today at 12:00 p.m. noon local time with Day 1a and will wrap up tomorrow when a champion is determined.
In the previous edition of the FPS High Roller in Monte Carlo, there were a total of 861 entries that generated a prize pool of over €1,700,000. It was Pascal Mouysset that topped the field, earning himself a cool €308,790 for his efforts. Some other notables that made a deep run include Yiannis Liperis, Bryan Paris, Jimmy Guerrero, and Motoyoshi Okamura.
Day 1a is scheduled to get the cards in the air at 12:00 p.m. noon local time, and each player will be given a starting stack of 30,000 chips. The blinds will begin at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante, and the levels will be 40 minutes in length throughout the event. There will be a 20-minute break after every three levels and a 75-minute dinner break scheduled for after Level 10.
This is an unlimited reentry event, and the late registration period will remain open until after the dinner break. Approximately 15% of the field will be played, and Day 1a will play until the money is reached. Day 1b will also be taking place later this evening in a turbo format, with the blind levels only 20 minutes in length. All players that make the money will return tomorrow for Day 2 and play down to a winner.
The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the event en route to crowning a champion in just a couple of days.

With just three players seated at the table, Sergi Martinez opened to 500 on the button. The small blind called and Tom Orpaz came along from the big blind. The flop came Q♦10♣8♠ and the action checked to the 7♣ on the turn.
All three players knuckled the table again and the 3♦ laned on the river. Orpaz finally threw in a bet of 1,500 and Martinez looked him up. Orpaz tabled Q♣4♣ for top pair and Martinez quickly mucked.

Action was heads up with over 2,000 in the middle when Victor Der Megriditchian fired 1,200 before Massimiliano Zanasi called from two seats over. Der Megriditchian turned over the dusty 7♣6♣ and Zanasi showed 10♥2♣ to take the pot with a pair of tens.
On another table, Almatbek Mykhanov limped in from early position before a player next to him raised to 800. Ken Demlakian three-bet to 2,700 from the big blind and Mykhanov fired back 12,700 before the player next to him got out of the way. Demlakian called to see a flop of 9♥4♥2♥ and Demlakian shoved 21,000. Mykhanov took a beat and tossed his cards into the muck to give up the pot.

There were four players who went to a flop of Q♥3♠2♦ for 500 apiece. Piotr Sztenkiel checked from the big blind and Riccardo Saraniero tossed in a bet of 1,200 in middle position. Thivakaran Sundaralingam called on his left along with Marcin Puczylowski on the button. Sztenkiel also tagged along as the J♥ peeled off on the turn.
This time the action checked all the way around to Puczylowski who sized up a bet of 5,100 on the turn. All three of his opponents opted to send their cards to the muck and Puczylowski was able to scoop the pot.
