Sitbon Rules the Roost to Begin Day 3 as 28 Return to Action

Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Some 28 players return for Day 3 of the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event at noon local time as they will play down to the final table today here at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London at the Hilton Park Lane hotel.

The story to start the day is Julien Sitbon who holds a gargantuan chip lead with 6,940,000 (174 big blinds) to start the day, which is more than double any of the other stacks. The Frenchman will have the luxury of being the big stack bully up against several small stacks at the start of the day.

Another Frenchman, Mohamed Aissaoui (3,285,000) starts the day in second place as the “best of the rest” following the substantial drop from Sitbon’s stack. Jon Kyte (2,930,000) is third, Day 1b chip leader Vladas Tamasauskas (2,770,000) comes in at fourth in chips and Conor Beresford (2,265,000) has the sixth largest stack.

Martin Jacobson is still alive, although just barely as he enters the day as the short stack with just 285,000 which is only seven big blinds as he will need to make a move very quickly if he wishes to make any impact on Day 3.

Play will resume at 12 p.m. local time and continue with 60-minute levels. The plan is to play down until the final six players remain. Blinds will start at 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante.

PokerNews will have all the updates you need as this critical Day 3 gets underway today.

Vladas Tamasauskas raised to 80,000 from early position, and the action folded around to Olivier Arnault in the small blind. Arnault slid in a three-bet of 250,000, and Tamasauskas made the call in position.

Arnault led out for 200,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, and Tamasauskas took some time before making the call. The turn {3-Spades} saw Arnault lead out again for 500,000, and Tamasauskas again deliberated before announcing all in.

This time it was Arnault taking time for his decision, and he ultimately mucked as a good portion of his stack slid to Tamasauskas.4

Leathley Barrels Into Top Boat as Pyke Pushes Ahead

Nível 25 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Danny Pyke

Punnat Punsri opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Guy Leathley three-bet to 200,000 from the hijack. Danny Pyke flat-called on the button and Punsri folded.

The flop landed {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Leathley continued for 125,000. Pyke called. The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Leathley stared at the board with his eyes fluttering before eventually betting 350,000. Pyke took about a minute and then called.

The {5-Diamonds} on the river completed the board and Leathley took a moment before announcing "all in" with Pyke covered. Pyke responded by flicking in a single chip for a snap-call before revealing {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} for queens full of fives, while Leathley turned over {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for an ace-high bluff.

The very next hand, Punsri three-bet jammed with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and was called by Pyke with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. The board then ran out {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for Punsri to be eliminated and for Pyke to take his spot among the chip leaders.

Caride Doubles Through Trofimov

Nível 25 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Dragos Trofimov raised to 80,000 from early position, and was immediately three-bet to 350,000 by Martin Caride to his left. Trofimov then four-bet enough to put Caride all in, and the call was made.

Martin Caride: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Dragos Trofimov: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Trofimov remained ahead after the {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, and connected with the {a-Hearts} turn for top pair. Caride picked up a flush draw, but missed on the {10-Diamonds} river to give Trofimov the double up.

Bigot Sends Wu Into the Tank

Nível 25 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

The flop read {4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}. From the big blind Colin Wu bet 100,000 and Fabrice Bigot called from early position.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}. Wu led again for 225,000. Bigot jammed all in which sent Wu spiraling into the tank as he thought for a couple of minutes before the clock was called and he eventually folded during the countdown.
