Staples Last Team Pro Standing

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jamie Staples
Jamie Staples

Jaime Staples is sitting on a healthy stack of 315,000 and is the last PokerStars Team Pro - Live or Online - standing in the PokerStars EPT Barcelona Main Event.

"There's a bit of bragging going on," he said, pointing to his phone and smiling! In fact, not only is Staples the last Team Pro standing, he was the only one to cash here in Barcelona. Drinks are on him it would seem!

Pollak Finds a Huge Double Up Through Lubas

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Benjamin Pollak
Benjamin Pollak

Benjamin Pollak raised from the cutoff position and Michal Lubas, who started the day among the chipleaders with 712,000, three-bet to 50,000. Pollak four-bet to 113,000 and after some consideration, Lubas announced all-in. It was snap-called by Pollak and the two players tabled their cards:

Benjamin Pollak: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Michal Lubas: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

It was a typical flip situation, and the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} gave the winning hand to the French player to climb to a stack worth 650,000.

Haward Busts Faria

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Luke Haward
Luke Haward

Luis Faria finished 24th in the EPT National earlier this week, and he raised to 12,000. Luke Haward was in the blinds and three-bet to 41,000. Faria then four-bet to 105,000 and Haward called.

Haward check-called 60,000 on the {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, although he did use a time extension. The turn {7-Spades} was checked by both players. The river was the {a-Hearts} and Haward moved all in, covering his opponent.

Faria had 210,000 behind, and used up three time extensions before calling.

"Ace-queen?" asked Faria, but Haward showed even better with {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a set of queens. Faria turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was eliminated.

Spindler Joins the Rail

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Benny Spindler
Benny Spindler

Benny Spindler, EPT London winner in 2011, just busted the tournament. Spindler pushed all in for 55,000 chips from the button and got called by Georges Hanna in the big blind. Spindler, holding {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}, was in bad shape as he was facing {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} from Hanna

The {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} board brought him no help. Hanna climbed to 560,000 after that hand.

Chris Moorman: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Dominik Panka: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Nines looked like they were holding on the {5-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop, and on the {j-Diamonds} turn. However, the {q-Diamonds} came on the river to crack Moorman's nines and eliminate the Brit.

PokerStars EPT Barcelona €5,300 Main Event Gets Underway at 12pm; All Players in the Money

EPT Barcelona Main Event field
EPT Barcelona Main Event field

With the remaining 259 players in the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona €5,300 Main Event all in the money, their focus is now on how deep they can run in this record-breaking EPT ever.

All those through to Day 3 have guaranteed themselves €8,900, but will no doubt be eyeing up the €1,611,500 for first prize - a record for an EPT Main Event outside of the PCA and Monte Carlo Main Events.

Leading the way, just like on Day 1a is former EPT champion Ben Wilinofsky. Seven years ago, aged just 22, Wilinofsky took down the EPT Berlin Main Event for €825,000, defeating a final table which included then yet-to-be World Champion Martin Jacobson.

There is a familiar face at Wilinofsky's starting table; Patrick Clarke was second in chips after Day 1b, and the pair both have in excess of 100 big blinds at the start of play on Day 3. Clarke also has EPT final table experience, finishing fourth at EPT Dublin two years ago for €193,650.

According to the official schedule, there will be six 90-minute levels of play today, with a 20-minute break after each. The 75-minute dinner break is scheduled after level four.
