Selbst Bust Ensan

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

"Great call man" Vanessa Selbst told Hossein Ensan while the German player got up from the table to leave the tournament area. "Seriously, great call" Selbst added.

The board on the table read {2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Ensan had {6-Spades}{4-Spades} in front of him. Selbst had {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} laying open and presumably the two didn't get the chips in on the river, but earlier than that. Selbst did hit the river and sent Ensan packing.

Daniel Negreanu Felted

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Daniel Negreanu - €100,000 Super High Roller
Daniel Negreanu - €100,000 Super High Roller

Daniel Negreanu opened the action with a raise to 1,800 from middle position and the player in the hijack made the call. Belarusian high roller Anton Astapau on the button made the call as well, and the small blind came along to see a flop also.

With {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} on the flop, the small blind checked and Negreanu bet 3,700. Just Astapau called, both other players folded.

Negreanu bet another 7,200 on the {J-Spades} turn and again Astapau called.

The {A-Clubs} completed the board and Negreanu checked with about 26,500 behind. Astapau announced all in verbally, and slid a stack of 5,000 chips forward.

"Oh no! Anything but that card!" Negreanu exclaimed. "Or maybe you're bluffing; missed flush draw, missed straight draw." Negreanu wasn't so sure of what to do just yet; "I'm gonna need a minute on this guys." Negreanu leaned over and asked "You bluff right? Russians bluff right? Good spot to. Or you might have ace eight of diamonds" Negreanu said, "You wouldn't go all in with that right? Or maybe you would!"

Astapau didn't reply at all, and just sat there motionless while Negreanu tried to make up his mind. Then, earlier than we expected, Negreanu all of the sudden tossed in some chips to indicate the call.

Astapau quickly showed his {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a turned set.

"Oh! Nice, you win" Negreanu said with a smile, "I had kings."

Negreanu showed his {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and made his way to the exit, "And that's that" Negreanu said with a smile while walking past Isaac Haxton. Astapau has about 140,000.

Lodden Loses a Heap to Stadler

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

A flop of {8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} prompted a bunch of action from three players, starting with German Alexander Stadler, who bet 5,000 from the hijack. Patrick Sacrispeyre called from the button, and PokerStars Team Pro Johnny Lodden, who had checked from early position, came out with a raise to 21,500. Stadler thought a couple of minutes and moved all in for 67,300. Sacrispeyre considered things for a bit and called off his stack of about 25,000, and Lodden immediately flipped in a call.

Lodden: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Sacrispeyre: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Stadler: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Stadler had to be happy to see a couple of flush draws blocking each others' outs, and the {6-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} river bricked out. Lodden sent him the majority of his stack, while Sacrispeyre shipped all of his.

Aces Up for Carrel Early on Day 2

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Charles Carrel on Day 1a
Charles Carrel on Day 1a

"He's playing like a maniac," was the remark from Charlie Carrel about his table-mate Luigi Mario Grisa. "His opponent bet three times and he called down with top pair!"

The Brit was in a hand against him after Josy Laurent Benhayoun opened for 2,100 under the gun. Both Carrel and Grisa called, along with the big blind and all four of them saw a flop of {5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Benhayoun continued for 4,100, and Carrel and Grisa again called, with the big blind getting out of the way.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} ,and Benhayoun continued the aggression, this time betting 6,100. Again the two other players called and the {J-Spades} hit the river. This time, Benhayoun checked and Carrel pounced on the lapse in aggression from the Frenchman, betting 16,300 into a pot of nearly 40,000 chips. Grisa made the call, whilst Benhayoun finally folded.

Carrel tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and it was met by a tap of the table from Grisa. Both players have healthy stacks early on Day 2.

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko got his last 12,500 in preflop with {8-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and we found him racing and at risk against the {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} of Sunny Jung. The board came clean for Timoshenko as neither player improved, and the star tournament player survived.

Patrick Bruel
Patrick Bruel

Patrick Bruel was shaking his head as he tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} on a board of {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and grimaced even more when his opponent, Georgios Zisimopoulos showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. In need of help to avoid elimination, Bruel saw the {5-Spades} then the {7-Spades} to seal his elimination. Zisimopoulos, who started the day with just over 80,000 has more than doubled his stick in just over one level so far today.
