Jannick Wrang On The Rail

Nível 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We do lose one of the former EPT Champions in today's field as Jannick Wrang has just been eliminated. After two limpers he moved all-in for ~ 9,000 chips with {A-}{K-} and got called by Filippo Bisciglia with {J-}{J-}. The board blanked for the Dane.

Danut Chisu has also been eliminated from the tournament.

An Orbit w/ 2011 World Series of Poker Champ Pius Heinz

Nível 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Pius Heinz
Pius Heinz

Back in 2011, Pius Heinz topped a field of 6,865 players to win the World Series of Poker Main Event for $8,715,638. Since then Heinz has sort of dropped off the poker radar. That changed when he made an appearance at the EPT10 Vienna last month, and now he's back on the EPT here in Sanremo.

We don't get to watch Heinz in action much these days, so we took the opportunity to spend an entire orbit with him. Heinz, who is sporting a beard and grey cap, started the orbit with right around 35,000.

Hand #1 (Under the Gun): Heinz was first to act and folded his hand.

Hand #2 (Big Blind): Carsten Chylla opened for 500 under the gun and received a call from Carter Swidler. Italy's Vincenzo Scarpitti then came along, Heinz called from the big blind, and four players saw a flop of {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Heinz was first to act and led out for 1,300, which inspired Chylla to fold. The other two players called, and the {7-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Heinz bet again, this time 3,000, and Swidler quickly folded. Scarpitti then pushed back with a min-raise to 6,000, Heinz called, and it was heads-up action to the {9-Clubs} river.

Heinz slowed down with a check, and then wasted little time in folding to a bet of 7,000 from Scarpitti.

Hand #3 (Small Blind): A player in middle position opened for 425 and Heinz folded when action reached him.

Hand #4 (Button): The cutoff raised to 450 and Heinz folded.

Hand #5 (Cutoff): Action folded around to Heinz and he did the same. The big blind ended up getting a walk in the hand.

Hand #6 (Hijack): The under-the-gun player raised to 500 and Heinz ended up folding.

Hand #7 (Middle Position): Once again the under-the-gun player opened for 500 and Heinz ended up folding.

Hand #8 (Middle Position): A player in early position raised to 450 and Heinz folded.

Hand #9 (Early Position): The under-the-gun player folded and so did Heinz.

Aside from the second hand of the orbit, Heinz was in fold mode.

Meanwhile, both David Suarez and Patryk Poterek have both been eliminated from the tournament.

A Rivered Jack

Oleksii Khoroshenin
Oleksii Khoroshenin

On a {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop three players checked. EPT Vienna champion Oleksii Khoroshenin bet out 900 from the blinds as soon as the {4-Spades} fell on the turn. After one player folded, Candido Goncalves made the call in position.

The river was the {J-Hearts} and Khoroshenin bet out 1,800, Goncalves called instantly.

Khoroshenin showed his {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and for a second we thought the Ukrainian won the hand. No luck for him though, Goncalves eventually turned over {J-Spades}{9-Spades} and took it down.

Jack Good

Nível 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Andrea Dato had made it 500 preflop and got three callers including Enrico Mosca. The flop of {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} saw Dato continue for 650 and with Mosca the only caller the two Italians went heads up to the turn.

The {j-Diamonds} saw Dato continue for 1,100 and again get a call. When the river came the {6-Diamonds} a last bet of 1,400 from Dato saw Mosca again call him down but he shook his head and mucked when Dato announced “Jack.” The {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} he flipped over saw the pot pushed his way.

Considering their stack sizes there was potential for a lot more drama than first appeared.

Easy Decision For Artem Metalidi

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Artem Metalidi
Artem Metalidi

Artem Metalidi raised preflop from under the gun, and one seat over, Hugo Felix three-bet to 1,300. The cutoff called as well as Christopher Lachave in the big blind. Metalidi then four-bet to 3,900 and only the cutoff and big blind called to see the {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} flop.

Lachave open-shoved for 23,575 chips and Metalidi asked the cold caller in the cutoff how many chips he had behind before moving all-in himself. The cutoff quickly folded and Lachave turned over the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} ... Metalidi had that beat with the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and immediately killed all hopes for a flush with the {K-Clubs} turn. The {2-Clubs} was meaningless and Metalidi emerged as the chip leader with 72,000.

Old School Vs New School

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Vincenzo Scarcella, the dapper Italian gentleman in a suit and tie, opened for 550. Quentin Lecomte, a young French player on his immediate left in a hoody and earphones raised him to 1,500. Scarcella made the call and the two players saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

Both players checked and saw a turn card {10-Clubs}. Scarcella checked and Lecomte threw out a bet of 2,100. Back to the older player, Scarcella check-raised to 4,200.

Lecomte threw his hand in, and as the chips were pushed his way Scarcella tossed the {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} face up on the felt.

10-4 Gets There

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Adrian Naya opened the button to 500 and Joseph Cahill in the small blind announced all in. While the black and red all in triangle flew through the air, the big blind folded. It was 9,350 total for Naya to call and he thought about it for quite some time. Eventually he called and the cards were placed on their backs.

Cahill knocked on the table as in defeat and Naya showed his {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Cahill tabled his {10-Spades}{4-Hearts} with a blush of shame on his cheeks.

The {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop would put him in the lead though, and he wouldn't forfeit that anymore. The {5-Clubs} on the turn and {k-Hearts} on the river were blanks, and Cahill doubled up.
