Krieger Doesn't Win the War

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

We missed the precise action preflop but saw 1,100 in front of Sven Krieger in the small blind. Eric Sfez in the big blind had 3,875 in front of him and was soon met by the all in of Krieger. Sfez, who won the €10,300 High Roller here two years ago for €242,000 - besting EPT London winner Ruben Visser heads up, frowned and called 14,000 more after some thinking.

Krieger showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and was behind against Sfez his {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} on the flop just about sealed the deal for Sfez, though Krieger did pick up four split pot outs with the {5-Hearts} on the turn. The {8-Spades} on the river was no help though and Krieger exited the tournament.

Eric Sfez is now one of the chip leaders.

Welcome Chip Leader

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Tables are breaking more frequently now as short stacks are falling just after the dinner break. Zimnan Ziyard has moved his imposing stack of chips to a new table and is sat to the left of Dominik Nitsche who was so delighted he promptly got his phone number joking; “Now we can text each other hands.” It was soon down to business though as Ziyard opened for 1,000 and was raised by the button, Konstantin Tolokno, to 2,600. The blinds folded and Ziyard made the call.
They saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}. Ziyard checked to the raiser who made it 2,700 only to face a check-raise to 6,700. Undeterred Tolokno made the call so they saw a turn card {5-Spades}. Another check from Ziyard and Tolokno put out a bet of 7,000. Ziyard had seen enough of this hand and folded. Perhaps he’s wishing he could have his old table back.

Wigg Caught Out

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On the turn of a {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades} board, Anton Wigg fired a bet of 2,100, Yves Soussan made the call and Shaun Hegarty folded before the dealer put the {A-Diamonds} on the river.

Wigg set Soussan all-in for the latter's last 9,000 or so but was snap-called by the Frenchman. Wigg quickly mucked and Soussan turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} for rivered top pair.

Mohamed Kerkeni Loses Two in a Row

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Two big pots in succession at Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov's table, he was involved in the latter whilst Mohamed Kerkeni was involved in both.

In the first Mihails Morozovs raised it up to 1,100 from under-the-gun and picked up four callers including Kerkeni, who was the cut-off. On the {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop Morozovs bet 2,400, Joseph Carlino flat called, Kerkeni then made it 6,000 total and Morozovs was the only caller.

The {K-Clubs} fell on the turn, when checked to Kerkeni bet 6,000 and Morozovs smooth called once more. The {Q-Diamonds} river was checked through and Morozovs showed {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to win the pot.

On the next hand Jesper Hansen opened to 1,000 under-the-gun, he too picked up four callers so it was five-way to a {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades} flop, Hansen continued for 2,200 and both Kerkeni and Katchalov (button) came along. The {9-Spades} turn was checked to Kerkeni, he bet 4,200m Katchalov called and Hansen folded. The {A-Diamonds} river double paired the board, both players slowed down and checked, "King high," said Kerkeni showing {K-Spades}{J-Spades}, Katchalov opened {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} to claim the pot.

After that hand Katchalov is up to 90,000.

Hoefer's Ace Does the Trick

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Paul Hoefer checked an {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop across to Konstantin Tolokno, the latter firing a bet of 6,000 into the middle. Hoefer made the call to see the {2-Diamonds} on the turn, both players checked and then also checked the {4-Spades} river. Hoefer showed {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Tolokno disappointedly mucked his hand.

Show One Card

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On a flop of {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades} it had been checked to Jean-Yves Malherbe who bet 2,000 and was raised by the big blind Vincent Verdickt to 4,100. Jorge Ufano was still to act and had a long think about it. So long that time was called, but before the floor could get there he mucked his cards and Malherbe made the call. Turn card {6-Clubs} and Verdickt now led for 5,300. Malherbe threw it away and the pot was Verdickt’s.

Marcin Wydrowski’s curiosity wasn’t satisfied though and he cried out to Verdickt to “Show the king.” In return Verdickt separated the cards face down and asked him to pick one. The turned up card was the {q-Spades}.

Alessio Isaia up to 140,000

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Alessio Isla is the current chip leader with around 140,000. The Italian got his latest boost in a pot against Jean-Yves Malherbe. They were two of the five players who took a {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} pot in a single raised pot. It checked to Isla on the button he bet 1,850 and only Malherbe made the call. On the {10-Clubs} turn Isla bet roughly 3,000 but no sooner had he put chips in the pot then Malherbe had folded.

Nitsche Counterfeits

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Nitsche didn't bring his own set of chips to Deauville, but he did counterfeit someone just a couple of minutes ago.

On a {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} board both players checked. The river brought the {Q-Clubs} into play and Konstantin Tolokno checked again from the blinds. Nitsche bet out 4,500 and Tolokno made the call.

Nitsche showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and won the hand as Tolokno mucked his {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} with a rather sad looking face.

ZZ Loses Another Chunk

Nível 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

UK PokerStars player Christopher Day was next to tangle with Zimnan Ziyard. We joined the action on the river of a board showing {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} as Day faced a bet of 12,600 from Ziyard. It took a minute or two for Day to call and when Ziyard showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} a relieved Day turned over the winning {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and gave PokerNews a quick recap of the action saying it would have been a lot more interesting if he had bet the flop having seen his opponents cards. “It went check, check on the flop. Then check-raise on the turn. I bet 3,200 and he made it 8,200.” Ziyard called over from the other end of the table, “You almost folded.” “Yeah.” Day agreed.
