The third and penultimate flight of the A$1,150 Opening Event gets underway at 12:10 p.m. local time at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. There will be two split tournament areas with 20 tables in the Exhibition Centre as well as up to 10 tables in the poker room and as usual, all players receive 10,000 in chips.
A total of 12 levels of 40 minutes each are played with bagging and tagging around 9.10 p.m. local time. The main focus of the PokerNews live coverage will however be on the final table of the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. Event and you can follow the updates here.
Recently retired Australian Rules Football legend and Australian Of The Year recipient Adam Goodes is in the house for Flight 3 of the Opening Event! He was recently spotted on table 71 mixing it up.
Goodes joins a growing list of ex-sporting Champions turning their hand to Poker in Australia. Cricket legend Shane Warne is now a seasoned Poker circuit veteran, and Steven Baker (another ex-AFL player) is back for his second bullet in this event today.
Xuan Liu is back on the felt today, having been unsuccessful in her attempts to build a stack in Flight's 1 & 2 over the last 2 days.
Today's Flight of the 2016 Aussie Millions Opening Event has drawn a huge field so far with 364 entries and counting. It is being run across two floors of the Casino, with about a dozen tables in the Poker Room and the Exhibition Hall packed to the rafters.
There are many familiar faces in the field from the first two Flights who are firing their second and third bullets for a shot at the $1mil prize pool guarantee. With over 700 total entries already from the first 3 days, that guarantee is sure to be smashed - the only question now is by how much?!
With Jason Gray and Mel Judah battling it out on the final table of the H.O.R.S.E. event, the Australian Poker Hall of Fame is being well represented today. Gary Benson is back at it in Flight 3 of the Opening Event, along with fellow Aussie Hall of Famer Van Marcus.
2015 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion and local hero Manny Stavropoulos has been spotted in today's field.
Manny was a long time cash game grinder in the Crown Poker Room before catapulting to super stardom by winning last years Main Event. Widely regarded as a down-to-earth and humble guy, this is Manny's first outing at this year's Aussie Millions.
More than half of the field has already been eliminated, including Scott Davies, with seven and a half levels being played thus far. Below are some assorted chip counts of the tournament area in the Exhibition Hall, another seven tables remain in the poker room of the Crown Casino
