Guzzardi Starts Off Right

Melbourne, Australia's Michael Guzzardi knows a thing or two about poker tournaments Down Under. In fact, two-thirds of his $332,012 in all-time earnings come from the Oceania region, including his largest score on record — a third-place finish in the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event back in October of 2012 for AU$112,000.

Guzzardi began his 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event by chipping up some thanks to flopping an early flush, albeit with the less-than-desirable holding of the {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

On the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, the first player checked, and then Guzzardi bet 200. His opponent called, and the turn brought the {10-Spades} to pair the board. Action was checked to Guzzardi again, and this time he bet 600. His opponent called. Then, the {2-Clubs} completed the board on the river. After being checked to a third time, Guzzardi fired a bet of 1,550. His opponent tank-called.

Guzzardi rolled over his flush with the {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and his opponent mucked his hand with a shake of the head.
