Simhai Puts Griffeth to the Test

Nível 30 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Michael Simhai

Ravi Raghavan opened to 225,000 from the hijack. He found three callers, Roongsak Griffeth from the cutoff, Michael Simhai from the button, and Timothy McDermott from the big blind.

The flop came out {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Action checked to Griffeth who bet 500,000. Only Simhai made the call in position.

On the {8-Spades} turn, Griffeth went for the check. Simhai quickly moved all in.

"Why didn't you do that on the flop?" asked Griffeth.

"Two people behind," grumbled Simhai.

After thinking for about a minute, Griffeth made his decision. "I'll fold a monster," said Griffeth as he showed the {a-Diamonds}.

"That's a monster? I flopped two pair," admitted Simhai.

Austin Peck Eliminated in 7th Place ($38,455)

Nível 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Austin Peck
Austin Peck

Austin Peck wasted little time in moving all in, getting a snap call from Michael Simhai. With Peck the player at risk, the two flipped their cards.

Austin Peck: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Michael Simhai: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

With Peck well behind and on the brink of elimination, the board came {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, offering no help to Peck. Simhai's aces had held, sending Peck to the rail in 7th place for a cash of $38,455. Meanwhile, Simhai scooped the pot and entered the chip lead.

Roongsak Griffeth Eliminated in 6th Place ($49,414)

Nível 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Anant Patel
Anant Patel

Roongsak Griffeth opened with an all in for 970,000 from early position. Anant Patel went all in himself from late position for 2,340,000.
The rest of the table folded and hands were turned over.

Roongsak Griffeth: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Anant Patel: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The board was bad for Griffeth when the {4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Hearts} came out, giving Patel top set. The {9-Spades} turn and {k-Diamonds} river made it official and Griffeth was eliminated.

"First pair I've had all day," noted Patel. This one sent about a million chips in his direction and one stop closer to the bracelet.

Spirits High at Final Table

Nível 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Despite the large stakes these players are battling for, the players are getting along well at the final table.

David Dowdy fired a bet from the button. Michael Samhai, the big blind, told the dealer "If you can promise me three fours on the flop, I'll call," as he showed his {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} before folding.

"Aw you got one of my set, you dog," Dowdy told Samhai, as he showed {9-}{9-}.

"See, I knew what I needed. That's why I asked for fours not nines," Samhai quipped.

"I wouldn't even be able to river quads since you got one of my nines." Dowdy responded. The two players shared a laugh as they prepared for the next hand.

Raghavan Scoops Pot with Top Pair

Nível 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Ravi Raghavan opened to 250,000 from the button, getting a call from Anant Patel in the big blind.

Raghavan continued for 275,000 on the {4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop, again earning a call from Patel.

On the {a-Spades} turn, Raghavan sized up and fired his biggest barrel yet, for 425,000. Patel again found the call.

Both players checked on the {2-Diamonds} river. Raghavan turned over {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, good for top pair. Patel tossed his hand in the muck while Raghavan scooped the pot.

Timothy McDermott

Anant Patel opened to 250,000 in middle position before Timothy McDermott moved all in for about 600,000 in position. Patel made the call and cards were tabled.

Anant Patel: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Timothy McDermott: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The flop was {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} to leave McDermott drawing thin.

"Heart!" pleaded McDermott.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, giving him a gutshot.

"Two!" McDermott asked for the backup plan.

The river was the {q-Spades} and McDermott was eliminated.
