Burden Claims Day1b Chip Lead in the Millionaire Maker; King, MacPhee, Ausmus, Riess All Make It Through
After eleven levels of 60 minutes each, Day 1b of Event #19: Millionaire Maker - $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em has come to an end here at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker. The second and last flight of this event attracted 4,887 entries over the first ten levels and 1,300 have made it through to Day 2, which will take place on Sunday, June 9th. Together with the 3,930 entries on Day 1a, this means that there were 8,817 entries in total which is more than all previous six years here at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
Claiming the Day 1b chip lead is Timothy Burden with a huge 420,000, but he's followed closely in the counts by Kfir Nahum (384,400), Caleb King (371,000), Kevin MacPhee (366,000), David Farah (359,200), Binh Yu (345,600) and Brian Kim (344,500). MacPhee is not the only bracelet winner left in the field, with players like Jeremy Ausmus, Upeshka De Silva, Ryan Leng, Daniel Park, Ryan D’Angelo, Aditya Sushant, Kyle Cartwright, Ronnie Bardah, Kristen Bicknell, Yue Du, Scotty Nguyen, Sam Soverel, Ryan Riess, Jessica Dawley, and Ryan Laplante all still in the hunt for another WSOP bracelet.
Unfortunately, not everyone managed to make it through to Day 2. The day started with two British boxers in their seats but they were knocked out during the day. David Haye and Audley Harrison were not seated at the same table but that could have been an interesting situation as they have squared off before in the ring but never on the felt. Randall Emmett was spotted in the Pavilion room during the third level but couldn’t be found anywhere in the final stages of the day.
Athanasios Polychronopoulos couldn’t run up his short stack in the last levels of the night, Loni Harwood was eliminated by Adam Geyer when he had flopped a set against her top pair. Harwood shoved all in but got no help on the rest of the board. Others to get eliminated included Dan Ott, Jim Petzing, [Removed:139], Arash Ghaneian, Jordan Young, and many others.
The 1,300 remaining players will return on Sunday, June 9, at noon local time, together with the 968 players who survived Day 1a and battle it out to make it through to Day 3. When they return, play will resume with Level 12 which features a small blind of 1,000, big blind of 2,000, and a big blind ante of 2,000. Ten levels of play are scheduled with a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level at approximately 6:30 p.m.
