Just Call Him Mr. Generic

Nível 10 : 0/0, 400 ante

The ante-only format of this event has led to some interesting strategic shifts, with the prevalence of multiway pots being among the most noticeable.

We caught one such hand involving seven players, including Allen Cunningham, Bryan Micon, and Danny Johnson, as they saw a flop of {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

After a few checks to him, Cunningham made a 1,800 feller bet, and next to act Johnson raised it to 4,200. The action folded around to an unknown player who moved all in over the top for about 14,000 more. Cunningham got out of the way, but Johnson snap-called and tabled the {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} with a flourish.

"Pretty good, huh?," he said across the table, as his shell-shocked opponent flipped up the {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

The turn ({8-Spades}) and river ({k-Spades}) kept Johnson out in front with his flopped full house, and he now holds an above average stack as Day 1 nears its conclusion.

As he stacked his newly earned chips, Johnson told us his name, but added "I'm just Mr. Generic," as he currently sits between two stars of the game in Cunningham and Micon.

Vamplew Has Vedes Number

Nível 10 : 0/0, 400 ante

Tommy Vedes called when David Vamplew put out 6,600 on a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The two then checked the turn of the {a-Hearts}. On the river of the {6-Hearts} Vamplew announced a bet of 12,500. This was met with an insta-call from Vedes.

Vamplew revealed {10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Vedes was disappointed as he showed the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for trip tens with a worse kicker.

Vamplew took a big chunk out of Vedes and then took around 9,000 more on the next hand when he fired two bullets on a flop of {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} and a turn of {6-Spades}. Vedes mucked on the second fire and he became the shortest stack at the table.

Vamplew who can thank Vedes for his recent uprising and had 78,000 after getting Vedes number in the two hands.

The Gods Give Levy Heart

Nível 9 : 0/0, 300 ante

Adam Levy and Jonathan Tamayo got all the money in on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Levy had Tamayo covered. Both players flipped over their hands.

Levy: {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Tamayo: {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

It was a race as Levy needed a heart for the flush to beat out Tamayo's two pair. The turn came the {3-Clubs}.

Levy then mentions, "I never win these!"

With that the poker gods looked upon Levy and carried him to give him his fifth heart. The river came the {7-Hearts}. Levy smiled, intending to thank the poker gods. Tamayo left the table as he did not get favor from the gods this day and he exited respectfully. Levy moved up to 44,000 with the knockout.

Moorman Bullying

Nível 9 : 0/0, 300 ante

Chris Moorman's trademark super-aggressive style is on display over at Table 2.

In a recent hand we caught, he raised to 1,600 preflop and got two callers. He fired a continuation-bet of 3,500 on the {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop, and only one player came along. After the {9-Clubs} turned, Moorman decided to ramp up the pressure significantly, putting his opponent all in for more than 20,000. The player thought briefly before conceding the pot to the well-known pro.

The river came {10-Spades} and again both players tapped the table, with the Levy rolling over {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for the winner.

Sam-I-Am

Nível 9 : 0/0, 300 ante

We caught the aftermath of a huge all-in clash, with Sam Panzica ending up on top with his {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Apparently, Panizca flopped top set on the {8-Clubs}{5-}{2-} board, and his unfortunate opponent held the {8-Spades}{5-}. Although he had flopped two pair, he was essentially drawing dead with two cards to come.

The subsequent streets failed to deliver running fives, and with that, Panzica notched the double to move above the 50,000 chip plateau.

Williams Doubles; Schwartz, Brenes Out

Nível 9 : 0/0, 300 ante

Table 10 has seen quite the turnover since we last took note. Notables Ylon Schwartz and Humberto Brenes have busted, while David Williams just doubled his stack when he got all in preflop with {k-}{q-} against {4-}{4-} and made trip queens.

Cunningham Holds in Three-Way All In

Nível 9 : 0/0, 300 ante
Allen Cunningham is no stranger to having a lot of chips in front of him.
Allen Cunningham is no stranger to having a lot of chips in front of him.

We found Allen Cunningham and two other players all in before the flop.

Cunningham: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
First opponent: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Second opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The dealer rolled out the {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} on the flop, keeping Cunningham well in front. Two more bricks completed the board, and Cunningham collected two scalps while charging toward the top of the leaderboard.
