Bucher Gets Wish Granted Before Busting

We arrived in time to see an unhappy Jeff Bucher packing his bag and Dean Blatt stacking up a lot of chips so asked Bucher what had happened.

Bucher told us how he had not seen a set all day before getting what he wished for and then wishing he hadn’t.

Contemplating a Dean Blatt raise Bucher looked down to see pocket threes with the tournament clock reading 13:33 and, seeing this as a sign the Kiwi made the call.

When the auspicious flop fell Bucher thought all his prayers had been answered and unsurprisingly all the chips ended up in the middle. Unfortunately for Bucher, Blatt had also flopped a set holding pocket sixes and the case three failed to make an appearance to end Bucher’s Main Event.

Rivas Counterfeited to Bust

A short-stacked Gheystler Rivas moved in for his last 18,000 with over the top of a Jonas Gjelstad open and the Norwegian made the call with .

The flop saw Rivas keep his lead but the appearance of the turn card counterfeited Rivas’ two pairs and crushed the Australian’s players dreams of a deep run. Rivas headed to the rail while Gjelstad climbed to 125,000.

Mustapha Kanit raised to 3,800 from under the gun and was called by the player on the button before Shurane Vijayaram bumped it up to 17,700 from the big blind. Kanit called. The button folded.

The flop came and Vijayaram bet out 15,000. Kanit thought for a minute then called.

The turn brought the and Vijayaram quickly checked. Kanit followed suit and the two watched the drop on the river.

Vijayaram checked and Kanit obliged before Vijayaram tabled for a pair of queens. Kanit mucked his hand and Vijayaram raked in the pot.

The action kicked off with the player in the hijack raising to 3,500, Tilly calling in the cutoff and Joel Douaglin defending his big blind before the dealer fanned a flop of .

Douaglin checked it over to the initial raiser who continued for 6,700, but Tilly wanted to play for more, raising almost instantly to 15,000. With Douaglin out of the way the hijack flicked in a call and the paired the board on the turn.

It was checked to Tilly and she made it 20,000. That was enough to win the pot with the player in the hijack throwing his hand away.

Wakeman Doubles Through Murray

On a flop of Niall Murray checked from under the gun. Matthew Wakeman was his opponent in the hand, and he bet out 8,500 from the cutoff. Murray called.

The turn brought the and Murray checked once again. Wakeman reached for his chips and splashed out a bet totalling 26,000. Murray then moved all in which had Wakeman covered. Wakeman snap called with 92,000 remaining.

Wakeman had flopped a flush and had Murray drawing dead on the turn. The meaningless completed the board and Wakeman scooped in the large pot.

It's not all bad news for Murray who still has 235,000 following the hand. Murray shipped Event #5 $1,050 NLHE Mix-Max a week ago for AUD$61,300 and will be looking to parlay that into another big result here this week.

Watson Doubles Ruzicka

Richardson Wins 5-Way

Shane Warne looked to be playing his rush and was scooping in chips as the next hand was dealt and he opened to 3,600 from under the gun. Warne picked up four callers in total including Ben Richardson in middle position taking the action five-way to a flop.

The big blind checked, as did Warne and a player sitting under the gun before Richardson fired out an 8,500 bet. Two of the other four players folded immediately and action came back around to Warne.

“Should I call the police?” Warne jokingly asked Richardson “Feels like we’re being robbed.”

Warne thought about calling but thought better of it and passed his cards to the dealer as did Richardson’s remaining opponent.

Richardson shot Warne a grin that would make a Cheshire cat blush and raked in the pot to climb to 107,000. Warne still has heaps of chips and looked to be sitting on 170,000 give or take.
