One Drop Events Raises Over $992,000; Daniel Dizenzo Leads Last 100

Nível 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Dizenzo - Chipleader

Daniel Dizenzo from the United States ended Day 2 as chip leader of the Little One for One Drop, bagging up 1,345,000. Alexandros Papadopoulos from Greece is in second place with 1,200,000, while Luigi Knoppers from the Netherlands takes the third spot with 1,174,000.

This year's One Drop events were a huge success. In the Little One Drop, $487,401 was raised and every single person who entered the event contributed to the donation. Over three starting flights there were 4,391 entries, including some very generous multiple re-entries.

Between the High Roller and Little One Drop, more than $992,000 went to One Drop on behalf of the players in 2017.

Day 2 saw cards in the air at 2 p.m. with the survivors of those three flights combined to make a field of 752. With 659 places getting paid they were 93 exits away from the money bubble. That seemed at the time like a fair few players to bust but it took just over one hour-long level to send the remainder of the players into the money.

Ozgur Arda was the unfortunate player who bubbled, holding {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} against the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} of Adam Duong. The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Spades} with the turn card giving Duong a set to bust Arda.

There followed the usual stampede to the payout desk and some of the big names who failed to bag up chips included Joseph Cheong, JC Tran, Pierre Neuville and Jason Mercier.

Notables who did make it through to Day 3 include Matt Affleck (347,000), Dan Heimiller (629,000), Chris Ferguson (163,000), Upeshka De Silva (127,000) and Roman Korenev (558,000).

Mother and son players Gail and Sean Getzwiller made it deep into Day 2 but a bluff into Jean Gaspard’s flopped set of Kings left Gail short. She exited near the end of day. Sean Getzwiller returns Saturday, though, with 268,000 to carry on the fight for family honor.

Action resumes at 2 p.m. again for Day 3 of The Little One for One Drop when the remaining 100 players will continue their quest for the first place prize of $528,316 and a coveted gold bracelet.

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand all day to bring you another 10 levels of poker as the 2017 World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino draws to a close.

Alexandros Papadopoulos
Alexandros Papadopoulos

Matt Berkey was under the gun and raised to 25,000. Alexandros Papadopoulos was in the cutoff and three-bet to 62,000, Berkey called.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Berkey checked. Papadopoulos bet 55,000 and Berkey called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Berkey checked again. Papadopoulos bet 155,000 this time and Berkey called.

The river was the {q-Clubs} and Berkey checked a third time. Papadopoulos took a minute and then moved all in for 329,000. Berkey tanked for over five minutes and eventually called. Papadopoulos flipped over {6-Spades}{7-Spades} for a straight and Berkey mucked his cards shipping this giant pot to Papadopoulos.

Metaal Gets Lucky

Nível 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Govert Metaal (as seen in previous event)
Govert Metaal (as seen in previous event)

It's unclear if it was all in pre-flop action or not but we arrived to the table with the chips already in the pot which was about 100,000 and the flop had just been fanned out which was {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Govert Metaal was in late position and had tabled {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Upeshka De Silva was in the hijack and had shown {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

The board looked great for De Silva but it ran out with the {3-Clubs} on the turn and the {k-Clubs} on the river giving Metaal a flush and keeping his hopes alive in this final event of the 2017 WSOP.

Berkey On Fire

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Matt Berkey
Matt Berkey

Matt Berkey was under the gun and opened to 10,000. A player in the big blind moved all in for what appeared to be 45,000 and Berkey called.

Berkey: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Big blind: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Berkey spiked a set on the flop to eliminate his opponent.

As another hand was in progress on the table behind Berkey, we peered over to see him knock out another opponent, only this time he had pocket kings and hit a set. If Berkey continues this heater the field could be in big trouble as this Las Vegas pro knows exactly what to do with a stack. Berkey has six cashes so far and this will make seven. His deepest run came in Event #16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed where he finished in fifth place for $87,141. Berkey does not have a bracelet yet but he has over a million dollars in WSOP tournament earnings and several final tables. Could this be his breakthrough year? Stay tuned.

Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Giulio Mascolo opened for 5,000 from early position and picked up one caller in Joseph Cheong on the button. Mascolo asked how much Cheong had left and got an answer of 35,000.

The flop was {j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}.

Mascolo led for 7,000 and Cheong shipped it. Mascolo gave it a couple minutes thinking time before he called.

Cheong: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Mascolo: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the river the {10-Clubs}.

Cheong was looking good for a double-up on the flop with his two pair, but the river delivered Broadway for Mascolo to knock him out.
