Kyle Loman In the Lead After Day 2
Kyle Loman In the Lead After Day 2

Day 2 of the 2017 World Series of Poker Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. saw a total of 168 players return to the tables of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and more than 50 hopefuls were sent to the rail empty-handed. After ten and a half levels, only 18 mixed-game specialists are still in contention and Kyle Loman leads the field of survivors with 580,000.

Loman is closely followed by Paul Sokoloff (540,000) and bracelet winner David Singer (525,000), while two-time bracelet winner David "Bakes" Baker bagged up 479,000. Esther Taylor (336,000) is followed by other notables such as Richard Ashby (269,000) and the "Italian" Pirate Max Pescatori (228,000), who may claim his fifth gold bracelet tomorrow. Defending champion Ian Johns (172,000) is still in contention to join the club of four-time bracelet winners, while Brandon Shack-Harris (125,000) has two WSOP bracelets to his name thus far.

The action got underway in two different rooms and within just two levels, all players were united in the Brasilia Room. Among those to bust before the money were Jon Turner, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, Anthony Zinno, Eric Rodawig and Jean Montury. The bubble burst when three players were at risk on three different tables. Jonathan Williams and Lonnie Heimowitz failed to survive their all in and split the min-cash of $2,247 evenly.

Soon after, Jason Mercier and Mihails Morozovs headed to the rail, and the field was cut down significantly until the dinner break after the sixth level of the day. Owais Ahmed, Vladimir Shchemelev, Daniel Weinman and John Monnette were just a few big names that cashed, but failed to bag up chips. Daniel Negreanu had to settle for 67th place for $2,612 when he failed to improve in a seven-card stud hi-lo hand with a four-card low and flush draw.Barbara Enright followed him to the rail soon after.

Other notables that cashed include Ronnie Bardah (59th, for $2,855), Mike Gorodinsky (50th, for $3,181), Randy Ohel (47th, for $3,611), Chris Tryba (36th, for $4,173), Marco Johnson, Mike Wattel and Frankie O'Dell (32nd, 31st and 27th respectively, for $4,911 each). Start-of-the-day chip leader Adam Dickson, mainly a cash game player in the UK, ultimately had to settle for 22nd place and recorded his first cash at the WSOP for $5,882.

George Trigeorgis: {X-}{X-} / {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Spades} / {X-}

On seventh street, Marco Johnson was facing an all-in bet and eventually called.

Trigeorgis turned over {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a nine-low, and Johnson mucked. As is standard procedure with any all-in, the dealer turned over Johnson's hand; he had {10-}{7-}{4-} for a ten-low and was eliminated.

On another table, Pete Linton was also just eliminated.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated by Randy Ohel

Walter Treccarichi: {X-}{X-} / {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts} fold

Randy Ohel bet fourth street and was called by both Walter Treccarichi and Daniel Negreanu to see Treccarichi check fifth street. Negreanu checked, as well, with less than one big bet behind, and Ohel bet. Treccarichi folded, and Negreanu eventually called it off. Sixth street gave Negreanu a huge sweat, while Ohel already had his low and revealed the {10-Spades} as his final card. Negreanu sweated his last card, and it was the {4-Hearts} that failed to improve the Canadian to a better low or high hand.

"But dealer's choice is still open," Ohel said over to Negreanu before adding, "My goal of the day is not to min-cash and miss the registration of dealer's choice. That already happened to me earlier. Dealer's choice is great fun." Table neighbor Brandon Shack-Harris agreed.

Shack-Harris completed, Fernandez raised and was called.

On fourth street, Fernandez bet and was called. On fifth street, Fernandez's bet was met with a raise, which was called. On sixth street, Fernandez check-called, and both players checked seventh.

Shack-Harris turned over {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{X-} for kings with a queen kicker and said that if Fernandez caught an ace he was good. Fernandez did indeed show the {A-Spades} but also {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for two pair and took down the pot.

Start-of-the-day chip leader Adam Dickson made it four bets on third street and was called by Edward Nassif by betting through each street. Nassif just called him down and Dickson announced "I just have two pair" and showed the {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} while mucking his last card.

Nassif tabled {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and won the pot. "You must have put me on two pair, right?" Dickson asked and took a small bump to his stack, though the Brit is still up for the day.

Paul's Stack Gets Chopped Up In Painful Fashion

James Richburg: {X-}{X-} / {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {X-}

Rolf Galasen and Gabe Paul are the next casualties, and the latter exited in brutal fashion after his stack was reduced to all but two bring-ins in a huge three-way hand.

There were already multiple bets in on third street between Paul, Dmitry Chop and James Richburg. On sixth street, the bets were capped and all three players remained in before seventh street saw Paul check. Chop bet and Richburg called, and Paul called as well.

Chop showed {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a straight and Richburg showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}, showing he had rolled up sixes and had caught a higher full house on seventh with another nine. Paul mucked up rolled up aces after being unable to catch a full house, was moved tables and busted right after.

The pot was more than 70,000 in total, double the current average!
