Welcome to Day 2 of Event #11: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

One day is down and two to go in Event #11: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed.

Roughly a quarter of the field made it through Day 1 of the mixed game bonanza as 89 of 364 players advanced, and there are plenty of mixed game crushers dotting the leaderboard for poker fans to keep an eye on as Day 2 of the event progresses. Justin Bonomo (70,900), Marco Johnson (61,300), Jon Turner (46,000), David Bach (43,100) and Robert Mizrachi (41,500) are all among the bigger stacks.

Mizrachi, of course, is perhaps the most accomplished player in the short history of these dealer's choice events, which date to 2014 at the WSOP. He finished first in the inaugural running for $147,092 and followed that up with third place in 2015 for $51,236.

All, however, have work to do to catch chip leader Troy Evans (76,200).

Taking place over in the former poker kitchen in the Miranda Room, Day 2 is scheduled to see 10 more one-hour levels, with players sifting through the stack of 20-odd game plaques and selecting their games of choice for a round apiece. There will be a one-hour dinner break at the conclusion of today's sixth level.

Keep an eye here on PokerNews as we bring you updates throughout the day.

Gerhart Can't Stand the Johnson Heat

Nível 12
Kevin Gerhart
Kevin Gerhart

Pot-Limit Omaha

The action folded to Marco Johnson in the small blind and he limped in as Kevin Gerhart checked in the big blind.

The flop fell down {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Johnson led out for 1,600 before Gerhart raised to 4,500.

Johnson responded with a re-pot amounting to 15,100 total and Gerhart released his hand.

Eveslage Eliminates Racener

Nível 12
John Racener
John Racener

No-Limit Hold'em

John Racener got lucky once to survive when he chopped ace-three against the ace-eight of David Bach. The deck was less kind when he jammed all in from the small blind for about 9,000 and Chad Eveslage snap-called in the big.

Racener: {q-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Eveslage: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Racener got up to leave. The {6-Hearts} gave him some hope, but a {7-Hearts} river was the final card he would see.

Cantu Scoops Wild Razz Hand With Trips on Board

Nível 13
Brandon Cantu
Brandon Cantu

Three players had pairs showing on fourth in a hand that went to seventh street three ways on the bubble.

John Marlowe: {x-}{x-} / {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Sampo Ryynanen: {x-}{x-} / {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Brandon Cantu: {x-}{x-} / {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Marlowe bet fourth street and got two calls, and it was Ryynanen taking the betting lead on fifth and sixth. On the end, Cantu, showing trip tens, fired a bet after Ryynanen checked. Marlowe mucked, but Ryynanen called. Cantu showed {a-}{6-}{3-} for a ten-low and Ryynanen simply nodded and mucked.

Johnson Falls in Hold'em

Marco Johnson
Marco Johnson

Pot-Limit Hold'em

Marco Johnson got his 30,000 or so in preflop from the big blind against Anthony Arvidson, who occupied the cutoff.

Johnson: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Arvidson: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Johnson was down to three outs, and the {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} provided the opposite of help. The {6-Spades} turn ended things on fourth street.

Benyamine Busts to Cantu

Nível 15
David Benyamine
David Benyamine

Big O

Catching the action on the flop of {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Brandon Cantu bet out and both Raoul Encinas and David Benyamine called.

The turn landed the {10-Clubs} and Cantu announced a bet of pot. Encinas deliberated for some time before folding before Benyamine called all in for his last 40,000.

Cantu: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Benyamine: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

With Benyamine in the lead with his two-pair, the river of the {5-Spades} would see Cantu river a wheel and send Benyamine to the rail in 28th place.

Gerhart Gone in 26th

Omaha Hi-Lo

From under the gun, Justin Bonomo raised to 8,000, and Daniel Hirleman called in the cutoff, as did both Wes Self in the small blind and Kevin Gerhart in the big blind.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and the action was checked through to reveal the {2-Diamonds} on the turn. Self bet 8,000, and Gerhart raised all in for his last 10,800. Bonomo folded, and Hirleman called, as did Self.

The river landed the {Q-Hearts}, and Self led out for 8,000. Hirleman folded.

Self tabled his {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a turned full house, and Gerhart opened his {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} for two pair and a missed low before exiting the tournament area in 26th place.

Bonomo Over Self in Biggest Pot Yet

Nível 16
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

No-Limit Hold'em

"Big pot over here," Todd Bui said just as we walked over to Table 628.

Indeed, Justin Bonomo's stack was in the middle preflop from under the gun with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}, having come out on the good end of a cooler against the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} held by Wes Self in the small blind. The board ran out {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, devoid of the queen Self needed. He sent Bonomo 141,500 — nearly all of his own stack.
