One Cash, One Bracelet; Daniel Perkusic Wins $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha in Dominating Fashion ($2,100,325)

Out of a field of 187 entries in Event #79: $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha at the 2024 World Series of Poker, Germany's Daniel Perkusic has come out on top after a heads up duel with Danny Tang. They earned the two biggest slices of the $8,929,250 prize pool, with Perkusic walking away with the top prize of $2,100,325 whereas Tang had to settle for a runner-up score of $1,400,217.

Perkusic was the only contender without a WSOP gold bracelet to his name when the final day resumed. In fact, this was the first-ever live WSOP event he managed to cash in. However, he navigated the final table expertly and sealed the victory after a masterclass heads-up performance. His two-million-dollar score is by far the largest cash of the Omaha specialist's career, more than tripling his total live recorded earnings.

Day 3 Action

The day started with just five players returning to the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Indian high roller Santhosh Suvarna entered the day as the shortest stack and hit the rail after only a few hands. Suvarna got it in with aces on the flop, but ran into the set of Perkusic and received no help.

Dutch pot-limit Omaha giant Ronald Keijzer and Tang then created a huge pot of over 20,000,000 chips. Keijzer check-shoved on the river on a paired board against chipleader Tang. Tang eventually sniffed out Keijzer’s bluff, who had put all his chips in with blockers to full houses. Tang played the second nuts and made the correct call to eliminate Keijzer.

With over half the chips in play, Tang seemed to run away with it at that point. However, Perkusic won some pots against the leader to close the gap. Perkusic eventually even overtook the lead and solidified it when he knocked out two-time bracelet winner Jim Collopy in third place when his pocket aces held against the pocket kings of Collopy, setting up the heads-up match with Tang.

Early in the heads up, Tang momentarily took back the lead, and it looked like a comeback was in the cards for the Hong Kong native. However, after a while, Tang could not seem to win any hand, with Perkusic winning small pot after small pot while being cheered on by his friends on the rail.

Tang managed to double twice, with four big blinds to his name the first time and three the second time. On the final hand, Tang got it in good again as he had flopped bottom set against Perkusic's top two pair, but the river gave the German a full house to secure his victory and award him his maiden bracelet.

This concludes our coverage of the $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha. However, the 2024 World Series of Poker is still in full swing with the iconic $10,000 Main Event just getting underway, so keep checking in with PokerNews to not miss any of the action from all the bracelet events going on.

Daniel Perkusic limped the button and Jim Collopy did so from the small blind. Danny Tang raised the pot and Collopy called the 1,500,000 total. The J63 flop saw Collopy check and then fold to a bet worth 1,225,000 by Tang.

Collopy then potted the button to win the blinds, flashing the AKK.

One hand later, Collopy was in the big blind with a stack of around 6,300,000 behind. Perkusic raised the pot out of the small blind and Collopy repotted. "All in, all in," he quickly said once Perkusic piled it in and they flipped them over.

Jim Collopy: KK33 All in
Daniel Perkusic: AA103

"How do we get kings versus aces, and you even have a three as well," a frustrated Collopy said.

There was no escape for him on the J66Q4 runout and Collopy exited in third place for $973,882. Both remaining players now take a quick break prior to the heads-up duel.

Danny Tang limped the button and Jim Collopy checked from the big blind, then check-folded the AQ3 flop to a bet worth 650,000.

Daniel Perkusic raised the next button to 1,000,000 and Tang came along from the big blind. On a flop of J107, Tang check-called for 700,000 before they checked the A turn and 4 river.

"Two pair?!" Tang said in table chat and Perkusic rolled over the AAJ6 for a set of aces.

"Too much of the board," the German said before stacking up the chips.

Danny Tang raised to 875,000 under the gun and saw Ronald Keijzer defend his big blind. On the 210Q flop, Tang continued for 1,500,000 chips and Keijzer check-called.

The Q turn then emerged from the deck and saw Tang size down to 1,350,000. Keijzer check-called again to see the J appear on the river.

Keijzer checked for a third time, after which Tang slid in 4,200,000 chips. Keijzer spent one time bank before announcing his all in for 9,525,000 chips total.

Tang went into a tank of his own, but eventually threw in a calling chip.

"Nice call," said Keijzer as he tabled AJ108 for an attempted bluff with his full house blockers. Tang showed down Q1078 for queens full of tens and raked in the massive pot.

"I just couldn't lay it down," Tang explained as he was awarded the pot. He ended up with more than half the chips in play while Keijzer headed to the payout desk to collect his fourth-place prize money.

In the second hand of the day, Santhosh Suvarna raised the pot to 1,050,000 and Daniel Perkusic called out of the big blind.

The flop brought J85 and Perkusic bet the pot, then instantly called the shove of Suvarna.

Santhosh Suvarna: AA65 All in
Daniel Perkusic: AQ88

Perkusic's set of eights had Suvarna on very thin ice, as only one ace was left in the deck. Running cards to a straight were also an option but the 2 turn left Suvarna with just the case ace. No miracle came with the 3 river and Suvarna was eliminated in fifth place for $503,085.

Champion to Be Crowned Today in $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha

Ronald Keijzer
Ronald Keijzer

At 1 p.m. local time, the chase for the coveted gold bracelet available during the 2024 World Series of Poker recommences on July 4 at the Horseshoe and Paris Casino Las Vegas. Out of a field of 187 entries, only five players from as many countries remain in contention in Event #79: $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha.

The biggest slice of the $8,929,250 prize pool is still up for grabs and the five finalists have locked up a cash prize of $503,085 already, whereas the winner will receive the massive top prize of $2,100,325.

Among them are four bracelet winners who hope to increase their tally and Hong Kong's Danny Tang leads the way after a surge late in the previous night . He returns with a stack of 20,725,000 and is well ahead of Ronald Keijzer (13,275,000) and Daniel Perkusic (12,150,000), the other two bigger stacks still in contention.

Furthermore, Jim Collopy (5,100,000) and Santhosh Suvarna (4,850,000) are also still in the mix and separated by only one big blind at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Suvarna will be adding his fourth High Roller cash during the 2024 WSOP and has the chance to win his second gold bracelet of the year and third overall. The businessman triumphed against poker's elite in Event #55: $250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold'em for a huge score of $5,415,152 earlier in the series.

Chipleader Tang has locked horns with Suvarna several times in the Triton Super High Roller Events and amassed $26.9 million in live poker scores already. Five years ago, the Hong Kong-based poker pro won his first gold bracelet in Event #90: $50,000 Final Fifty and has the chance to double his tally in an event with the same price tag.

Collopy has earned the most merits at the WSOP among the final five as he has three WSOP titles on his resume, while PLO specialist Keijzer has one bracelet as well from back in 2018. The only contender yet to taste victory at the WSOP is third-placed Perkusic, who could become the first German to win a gold bracelet during the 2024 WSOP.

The action recommences at 1 p.m. local time inside the Horseshoe Event Center with 20:35 minutes left in level 26 at blinds of 150,000/300,000 with a big blind ante of 300,000. Stay tuned right here on PokerNews to find out who will claim the gold bracelet and seven-figure cash prizes.
