Day 2 of Event #28: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller Begins at 1 p.m.

There will be 36 players returning to their seats for Day 2 of Event #28: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller inside the Paris Ballroom at the World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. The action is slated to get underway at 1 p.m. local time and it will be none other than Finnish four-card expert Joni Jouhkimainen leading the way.

Jouhkimainen went on a heater in the middle of the opening day, one that he even said might be the best run of cards he's ever experienced. After 15 levels of poker, Jouhkimainen bagged up a stack of 2,935,000, enough for nearly 10% of the chips in play. Jouhkimainen will be looking to turn that run into a final table appearance and finally capture that elusive WSOP gold bracelet that he looks to add to his resume.

Some other big stacks joining him at the top of the leaderboard are Aaron Mermelstein (2,375,000), Scott Seiver (1,835,000), and reigning player of the year Josh Arieh (1,825,000). After being eliminated in an earlier event yesterday, Arieh was overheard saying "I'm gonna go win that one," referring to this tournament. Thus far, he has put himself in a good position to do just that and sneak into the conversation at defending his POY title.

The action is expected to be fast and furious in the early going of the day, with many short stacks still in the field. Players will be looking to maneuver their way around and set themselves up for the money bubble that should occur midway through the day. They will all be fighting to get into the top 16 spots to grab a piece of the $5,074,750 prize pool up for grabs.

The cards will go in the air at 1 p.m. local with the blinds resuming on level 16 at 10,000/15,000 with a big blind ante of 15,000. Each player will receive an additional six time banks at the start of the day, and another six once the final table is reached. The levels will continue to be 40 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every three levels and a 60-minute dinner break after nine levels.

They will be playing down to the final five players today, and those will return tomorrow to eventually crown a WSOP gold bracelet winner. Keep it tuned in here as the PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you all of the live updates throughout the day.

Baptista Chips Up Without Showdown

Nível 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Duarte Baptista raised to 35,000 and Scott Seiver as well as Jason Mercier called. On the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop, it checked to Baptista and he bet 35,000 to force two folds.

Baptista then made it 35,000 to go and was called by Brian Rast, Kabeelan Rajamurthy, and Jared Bleznick. It checked to Bleznick on the {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and he bet 75,000. Baptista check-raised to 400,000 and Bleznick folded.

Karakitukov Makes the Nuts, Busts Two

Nível 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Eelis Pärssinen

Ronald Perkinson raised to 30,000 in the cutoff and Veselin Karakitukov raised the pot to 105,000 in the small blind. Eelis Parssinen stuck in a four-bet to 345,000 which led to Parkinson calling off his stack of 215,000. Karakitukov used a time bank before also making the call.

The flop fell {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Karakitukov and Parssinen quickly got all the rest of their chips in the middle with Parssinen being at risk for around 150,000 more.

Ronald Perkinson: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Eelis Parssinen: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Veselin Karakitukov: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The {j-Hearts} on the turn gave Karakitukov a flush that was going to be unbeatable. The {a-Hearts} on the river solidified his hand with the nuts and both Parkinson and Parssinen were eliminated.

Diebold Sent to the Rail

Nível 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

"I think I need a wheel," Ben Diebold said when he got it in with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}. He was up against the {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} of Dash Dudley and found no help on the {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades} runout.

Moments later, Kabeelan Rajamurthy vanished from one table over and the field was down to the final 32 players.

Kempton Chips Up Without Showdown

Nível 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

In a four-way limped pot the {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop was checked through. It then checked to Isaac Kempton on the {2-Spades} turn and he bet to win the pot uncontested.

One hand later a single-raised pot between the two big stacks on the same table followed as Joni Jouhkimainen and Veselin Karakitukov headed to the {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop. Jouhkimainen bet 60,000 and that ended the hand right there.

Stojanovic Wins Blind vs Blind Against Arieh

Nível 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

The action folded to Manuel Stojanovic in the small blind who just limped in. Josh Arieh checked his option and the two players saw a flop of {k-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Stojanovic led out with a bet of 25,000 and Arieh called.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Stojanovic checked this time. Arieh threw in a bet of 55,000 and Stojanovic called to see the {7-Spades} on the river. Both players tapped the table and Stojanovic showed {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a king-high flush. Arieh took the cards along with his own and threw them into the muck, conceding the pot.
