Huge Double for Varnell

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Craig Varnell
Craig Varnell

Craig Varnell raised under the gun to 15,000, the cutoff called, the button called and the big blind defended.

On the flop of {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} the big blind checked to Varnell and he fired out a bet of 25,000. The player in the cutoff thought about it for a moment and made the call before the other two pairs got out of the way.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Varnell check-raised all-in against the cutoff's bet of 150,000. Varnell had 244,000 and the cutoff who had Varnell covered, snap-called.

Craig Varnell: {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {5-Spades}{4-Spades}

Varnell had flopped trip sixes but was behind to the opponents turned flush. However, the river completed the board with the {3-Diamonds} giving Varnell a full house and an incredible double up.

Sankari Eliminated in First WSOP Ever

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Antoine Sankari
Antoine Sankari

The Canadian ex-poker dealer Antoine Sankari had entered his very first World Series of Poker event looking to take home a WSOP gold bracelet. Unfortunately for Sankari, Ezequiel Filomeno had crushed that dream when the action folded around to Filomeno in the small blind and they quickly got Sankari's entire 27,000 chips in the middle.

Antoine Sankari: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Ezequiel Filomeno: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

It was a cooler blind versus blind and Sankari couldn't find any help when the board ran out {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, sending Sankari to the rail to fight another day for his first WSOP bracelet.

Valentino Konakchiev
Valentino Konakchiev

The action folded around to the cutoff, who shoved his entire stack of roughly 45,000. After thinking for about five seconds, Valentino Konakchiev raised to 125,000 on the button, forcing the blinds to fold.

Cutoff: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Valentino Konakchiev: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Konakchiev was ahead with the pair of sevens and nothing changed on the {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. The board completed with the {8-Diamonds} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river, giving Konakchiev two pairs to eliminate his opponent and continue to grow his mountain of chips.
