Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the 2014 World Series of Poker! Today marks the start of the 50th event of the summer with Event #50: $1,500 Eight-Game Mix!
While eight-game mix tournaments have been offered in the past, the $1,500 buy-in format is new for the 2014 WSOP. The mix of eight games is the same as the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, but holds a much more affordable buy-in for the casual player. The mix includes no-limit hold'em, limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, Omaha 8, stud, stud 8, razz, and 2-7 triple draw.
Last year, the eight-game mix event was a $2,500 buy-in and was won by Michael Malm. Malm defeated recent bracelet winner Steven Wolansky to pocket over $225,000 in first-place prize money.
Play is set to kick off at 4 p.m. local time where the field will play a full ten levels. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and no dinner break. As always, be sure to stay glued to PokerNews as we provide all of the crazy Day 1 action!
