Event #20 of the 2014 World Series of Poker, a $3,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em shootout, originally began with 389 runners, which created a prize pool of $1,061,970. The first day saw each table player down to a winner, which left 40 at the start of play today. That meant ten tables of four players with the winner of each advancing to the final table of ten.

Over at Table 361, Raymond Dandrea was the first to fall, and then Chris Bell became the first to advance when he scored the double elimination of Mike Pickett and Marcus Mizzi.

Speaking of Mizzi, he was the brother of Sorel Mizzi, who was also in the field. Sorel managed to make it to heads-up play at his table, but was ultimately defeated by Jack Duong when the two got it in on a {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop. Mizzi held the {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for flush and straight draws, while Duong had top pair with the {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {Q-Hearts} river was what Mizzi needed, and he exited in 18th place for $7,805.

Others who fell throughout the day were Humberto Brenes (38th), Faraz Jaka (35th), Erik Seidel (31st), Jake Cody (23rd), Josh Brikis (20th), Erich Froehlich (17th), Sylvain Loosli (16th), and Alex Bolotin (12th), all of who took home $7,805.

In regards to Bolotin, who won the Event #6 $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout for $259,211 a week ago, he made it to heads-up play at his table but fell to Narendra Banwari. It happened when Bolotin got his last 110,000 all in preflop holding the {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} and was up against the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Banwari. The {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop kept Banwari in the lead, but then Bolotin spiked an ace after the dealer burned and turned the {A-Hearts}.

“Goddamnit,” Banwari muttered. Little did he know his anger would turn to pure joy when the {Q-Spades} spiked on the river. With that, Bolotin’s attempt at winning back-to-back shootouts came to an end.

Joining Banwari, Duong, and Bell at the final table are some accomplished players including online superstar and WSOP bracelet winner Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond; Taylor Paur, who won a gold bracelet last summer in Event #18: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $340,260; Dylan Linde, who will earn his third cash of the summer; and Eric Wasserson, who had to forgo playing the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event after advancing. Toss Kory Kilpatrick, Noah Bronstein, and Michael Stonehill into the mix and it’s shaping up to be quite the final table.

Here is how the final table stacks up:

1Chris Bell346,000
2Taylor Paur339,000
3Kory Kilpatrick344,000

The third and final day will begin at 2 p.m. local time on Monday. Everyone is guaranteed a $16,609 payday, but all ten have their eyes set on the $254,891 first-place prize and WSOP gold bracelet. Who will walk away the victor? Be sure to join the PokerNews Live Reporting Team then to find out the answer.

While you wait, find out what is in the sack of WSOP bracelet winner Brandon Shack-Harris:

Stonehill Prevails Over Alaei

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Stonehill
Michael Stonehill

In the first hand after doubling, Michael Stonehill moved all in from the button and Daniel Alaei folded.

In the next hand, Alaei was the one shoving from the button and Stonehill asked for a count. It was 35,000 total, and he made the call.

Stonehill: {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Alaei: {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Alaei was in need of some help, and besides a gutshot straight draw he didn't really get it on the {j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop. The {5-Spades} turn give him a double belly-buster straight draw, but the {q-Spades} river failed to complete it.

With that, the last match of the night has come to a close.

Banwari Bests Shootout King Bolotin

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Narendra Banwari
Narendra Banwari

Alex Bolotin raised to 8,000 on the button, Narendra Banwari three-bet to 19,000 from the big blind and Bolotin four-bet all in for about 110,000. Banwari called.

Bolotin: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Banwari: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The flop fell {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} to keep Banwari ahead, but Bolotin caught the {A-Hearts} on the turn to take the lead.

"Goddamnit," muttered Banwari.

River: {Q-Spades}

"Yes!" said an excited Banwari as he rivered a queen to make a set of queens to reserve his seat at the final table.

Bolotin's valiant attempt at winning back-to-back shootouts came up just a little bit short.

Galfond Defeats Newman

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Phil Galfond
Phil Galfond

Phil Galfond raised on the button to about 44,000 effective and Stewart Newman called all in from the big blind.

Galfond: {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Newman: {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop didn't change much, though the {A-Hearts} turn gave Newman a flush draw while pairing Galfond. The {7-Spades} river was of no consequence to Newman, clinching the match and a seat at the final table for Galfond.

Paur: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Daneshgar: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}, giving Paur a pair of kings to eliminate Daneshgar and advance to the final table.

"I Just Made a Straight Flush?"

Nível 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Stewart Newman
Stewart Newman

Phil Galfond opened for 6,000 on the button and Stewart Newman announced that he was all in for 63,000. Galfond hit the tank debating what to do, and commented that he had a "pretty hand." Eventually he called.

"I don't think I want a pretty hand to call," Newman admitted. Indeed, he was in bad shape.

Galfond: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Newman: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}

"That's a good flop for you," Galfond said after the {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Spades} flop gave Newman the lead with jacks. The {10-Spades} turn improved him to a straight flush, and he was shipped the double after the {5-Hearts} was put out on the river.

"I just made a straight flush?" Newman asked rhetorically. "That's pretty silly."

Wasserson Defeats Venovski to Advance to the Final Table

Nível 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Eric Wasserson
Eric Wasserson

Alexander Venovski got his last 60,000 all in preflop and was racing against Eric Wasserson.

Venovski: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Wasserson: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Venovski was the one that needed to improve, but he didn't do it on the {6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop. The {8-Spades} turn opened up some straight opportunities, but the {5-Clubs} ended up blanking on the river.

"Well, now I can't play the $10K H.O.R.S.E.," Wasserson said. That's true, because tomorrow he'll be at the final table in this event with 345,000 in chips.

Onward to the Final Table for Kilpatrick

Nível 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Kory Kilpatrick
Kory Kilpatrick

John Dolan moved all in from the button for 60,000 or so and Kory Kilpatrick made a quick call from the big blind.

Dolan: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Kilpatrick: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Dolan went with his ace, but it proved to be ill timed as Kilpatrick woke up with a better one. The {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{q-Spades} flop was no help to Dolan, but the {5-Clubs} turn gave him a little hope to a wheel draw. He needed either a deice or three on the river to keep his shootout life alive, but that didn't happen as the {7-Spades} blanked on the river.

Kilpatrick will take 344,000 into tomorrow's final table.

Sorel Mizzi raised to 6,500 on the button, Jack Duong three-bet to 17,000 in the big blind and Mizzi called to see a {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop.

Duong checked, Mizzi bet 21,000, and Duong check-raised all in. Mizzi called all for about 110,000 with {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, drawing against Duong's {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The {4-Hearts} turn gave Mizzi some help, but the {Q-Hearts} river provided none, securing the victory for Duong.

Bronstein Secures a Spot at the Final Table

Nível 5 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Noah Bronstein
Noah Bronstein

"All in," Ira Marcus said over at Table 353.

"Call," responded Noah Bronstein.

Marcus: {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Bronstein: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Both players held an ace, but Marcus had some major kicker problems. When the flop came down {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and gave Bronstein a pair of kings, Marcus stood up in preparation for his exit. The {A-Spades} turn left him drawing dead, and after the {7-Clubs} was put out on the river, he shook hands with Bronstein and made his way to the payout desk.

Bronstein will begin tomorrow's final table with 354,000 in chips.
