Event #52: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed)

Dia 2 Iniciado

The March to the Money Begins Here on Day 2

Max Lehmanski
Max Lehmanski

What started with 175 players is down to 101, all of who are looking to make the money here in Event #52: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed). Just 18 of them will do it, which means 83 runners will leave disappointed and $25,000 light in their bankroll. One man who is position well to make the money is the start-of-the day chip leader, Max Lehmanski, who begins today with 406,000.

While Lehmanski bagged up the most chips on Day 1, some stiff competition advanced with him including Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond (338,700), Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky (330,300), Rachid "SkaiWalkurrr" Ben Cherif (329,500), Marvin Rettenmaier (289,400), Kevin "1SickDisease" Eyster (283,300), Brandon Meyers (258,100), David "Bakes" Baker (223,700), Andrew Lichtenberger (198,800), Erik Seidel (161,900), Dan Kelly (127,800) and Jason Mercier (124,100), just to name a few.

The field is littered with some of the biggest names in the game, and aside from the conclusion of the One Drop $111,111 High Roller, our event is the biggest game in town. Action is set to kick off at 2 p.m. local time and the plan is to play ten levels or down to a final table, whichever may come first. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture all the action, so stay tuned.

The cards are in the air here on Day 2 of Event #52: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed).

One man who is not in his seat is Anthony Gregg, who late registered last night while playing Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em. Gregg begins this tournament with 66,100 in chips, but that's likely not even on his mind as he is currently the heads-up chip leader and competing for his first gold bracelet and a $,830,619 first-place prize.

It's as Easy as Sauce123

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Timothy Adams opened for 4,000 from the hijack and received a call from online legend Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky in the small blind. Talal Shakerchi then moved all in from the big blind, Adams folded and Sulsky snap-called.

Sulsky: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Shakerchi: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

It was a classic flip and Shakerchi was looking to dodge big cards. The {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Clubs} brought a couple of them, but none that paired Sulsky, who actually picked up a Broadway draw to a ten. Wouldn't you know it, the dealer burned and turned the {10-Clubs} and just like that Shakerchi was drawing dead. the meaningless {7-Hearts} was run out on the river and Shakerchi made a quick exit from the tournament floor.

Meanwhile, Tony Gargano was also eliminated over at Table 352.

Petrangelo Doubles Through Salsberg

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Reigning World Poker Tour Player of the Year Matt Salsberg, who worked on the hit Showtime show Weeds, opened for 4,000 from the hijack and then called when Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 8,000 from the button. Salsberg then check-called a bet of 6,200 on the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop before checking the {Q-Spades} turn.

Petrangelo kept the pressure on with a bet of 12,300, but this time Salsberg pushed back with a check-raise to 26,000. Petrangelo took his time before making the call and then moved all in for 28,000 after Salsberg checked the {4-Diamonds} river. Salsberg thought long and hard before dropping in a call, but he mucked just as soon as Petrangelo rolled over the {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for trips.

Sulsky Puts Chidwick to the Test

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky opened for 4,000 from the button and then called when Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 10,500 from the big blind. The {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop saw Chidwick check-call a bet of 8,000 and then the dealer burn and turn the {5-Diamonds}.

Chidwick checked for a second time and Sulsky spiked out a tower of pink T5,000 chips for a bet of 100,000, which was enough to put Chidwick all in if he chose to call. Chidwick thought about it and then opted to put in his last 80,000 or so.

Chidwick: {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Sulsky: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Sulsky had put the pressure on with the ace-high flush draw, but Chidwick passed the test by calling off with top pair and an open-ended straight draw. The {J-Spades} river failed to help Sulsky, and Chidwick was rewarded with a double.

Gregg Immediately Takes Seat in $25K Following One Drop Victory

Tony Gregg playing Day 2 of the $25K 6-Max after justing winning the $111,111 One Drop

As if winning the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold'em for $4,830,619 wasn't enough, Tony Gregg immediately came over to the $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed) event and took his seat. In the One Drop High Roller, Gregg defeated Chris Klodnicki heads up to take the title.

From across the table, Niklas Heinecker, winner of the 2013 GuangDong Ltd. Asia Millions Main Event for HK$34,600,000, stood up to come over and shake Gregg's hand and congratulate him. Jeff Gross did the same from an adjacent table, as did Timothy Adams. Justin Bonomo and Tobias Reinkemeier were a couple of the others to verbally shout out some congrats to Gregg.

"Don't you have anything better to do?" joked Heinecker while Gregg counted his stack and smiled.

"Such a grinder!" yelled Reinkemeier. "Go celebrate!"

At any rate, Gregg doesn't look like he has any plans to blow off his stack in this event. He has about 60,000 in chips and looks just as serious as he did during the entire One Drop High Roller event. It would be one of the most amazing feats in poker if he were able to pull of the back-to-back victory in these two star-studded events.
