Lehmanski Leads Once Again After Day 2

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Max Lehmanski - Chip leader
Max Lehmanski - Chip leader

After nearly 11 hours of play - Level 17 was repeated because it took place on the bubble - Day 2 of Event #52: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed) has finally come to a close. With the elimination of Brandon Meyers on the stone bubble, 18 players have guaranteed themselves a minimum of $53,781, and the chip leader is German Max Lehmanski. Lehmanski entered Day 2 with the most chips, and although he didn't go wire-to-wire, he ended the day in the same exact spot, bagging 1,982,000 chips.

The only other players to bag seven figures were Stephen Chidwick, Phil Galfond, Dani Stern, and Steve Sung. Sung was one card away from being the bubble boy himself when he got more than a half a million chips in the middle preflop with ace-king off-suit against the aces of Igor Kurganov. Sung made a four flush when the turn and river went diamond-diamond, doubling to over 1.1 million chips. Sung seemingly ran hot the entire day, busting Kyle Julius with ace-five against ace-jack prior to the bubble, and calling all-in with just ace-high on a seven-high flop only to chop when the turn and river put a straight on the board.

Also making Day 3 are notables Kevin Eyster, Todd Terry, Shannon Shorr, Ogjen Sekularac, David "Bakes" Baker, Marvin Rettenmaier, Fabian Quoss, and Christian Harder. Sekularac, despite one of the other shortest stacks in the room, was the one to bust Meyers. Sekularac won a race with two tens against Meyers' ace-jack to burst the bubble and end the day.

Joining Meyers on the rail today were a host of other notables, including Byron Kaverman, Rachid Ben Cherif, Zachary Clark, Max Steinberg, Eugene Katchalov, Jason Mercier, JP Kelly, Tobias Reinkemeier, Niklas Heinecker, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and the winner of the $111,111 One Drop High Roller, Tony Gregg.

The second Gregg was done with his interviews and photos, he hustled over to the Tan Section of the Amazon Room, but ran an unsuccessful bluff to bust.

Play will resume on Sunday at 2 p.m. PDT. The action is sure to be fast and furious at the start of the day with so many short stacks, so be sure to get back here early for coverage of this and every bracelet event at the 44th annual World Series of Poker.

Brandon Meyers Bubbles Event #52

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Brandon Meyers bubbles
Brandon Meyers bubbles

After nearly two and a half hours, we are finally in the money here in Event #52.

Brandon Meyers was first to act, and moved all in for 188,000. Dani Stern folded on the button, and Ognjen Sekularac asked for a count in the small blind. The dealer obliged, and then Sekularac re-shoved, having Meyers covered by a few dozen thousand. Kevin Eyster quickly surrendered his big blind.

One more table still had a hand in progress, but as soon as Fabian Quoss folded his hand, Meyers and Sekularac tabled theirs.

Meyers: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Sekularac: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

With the stacks nearly even, it was essentially a $53,781 race. Meyers didn't make a pair as the flop fell {q-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, but he did pick up a gut-shot straight draw and a backdoor flush draw. Sekularac held two of his tens, but even if a ten turned, the Serbian would still have a redraw to a full house.

The {8-Spades} on the turn removed Meyers' hopes of making a flush, and left him with eight outs to survive. Unfortunately for him, the {8-Clubs} completed the board, and he was eliminated on an excruciatingly long bubble.

The remaining 18 players are now bagging and tagging. We will have full counts, the seat draw, and a recap for you shortly.

Massive Hand for Ansky

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Dani Stern
Dani Stern

Dani Stern and Kevin Eyster have been battling back and forth on the bubble at the only four-handed table in the tournament. Even with Ognjen Sekularac and Brandon Meyers nursing short stacks at their table, these two are unafraid and are willing to play big pots.

In fact, the two just played a massive, 1.4 million-chip pot that went Stern's way. We caught the hand on the turn of an {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board. Eyster had checked, Stern fired out 58,000, and Eyster check-raised to 152,000. Stern called.

The river was the {k-Diamonds}, and Eyster grabbed a yellow T1,000 chip and a pink T5,000 chip, placed them on top of green T25,000 chips and slid forward 506,000.

"How much?" Stern sighed, shifting in his seat.

The dealer confirmed the amount, and after less than a minute Stern called. Eyster instantly flicked his cards into the muck, and Stern showed {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a pair of aces.

Big Bubble Doubles

Nível 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Steve Sung - Saved by a diamond on the river
Steve Sung - Saved by a diamond on the river

We just had two all-in situations and it appeared the bubble was primed to burst.

In the first, Dani Stern raised to 25,000 and then called when Ognjen Sekularac moved all in for 114,000 from the small blind. Action was halted to wait for action to complete at the other tables. It was at one of these tables that Steve Sung and Igor Kurganov battled, which you can read about below.

Sekularac: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Stern: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Sekularac was well out in front and doubled after the board ran out {q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

At the other table, Kurganov raised to 25,000 from the cutoff only to have Sung three-bet to 80,000 from the button. Kurganov respond with a four-bet to 160,000 and then snap-called when Sung moved all in.

Sung: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Kurganov: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Sung was in the worst possible spot and looked as if he'd become the bubble boy. The {4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop made that all the more likely, but much to the surprise of the railbirds still in attendance, the {3-Diamonds} turned to give Kurganov a flush draw. Much to Kurganov's dismay, as well as the other players hoping to make the money, the {8-Diamonds} spiked on the river to save Sung.

"F*** My Life"

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Byron Kaverman - Eliminated
Byron Kaverman - Eliminated

Kevin Eyster opened for a raise from early position, Dani Stern called on the button, and Byron Kaverman squeezed, moving all in from the blinds. Eyster re-shoved, and Stern folded.

Eyster: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Kaverman: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}

"F*** my life," Kaverman said at the sight of Eyster's hand.

It was all but over when the flop fell {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, giving Eyster queens full of aces, and Kaverman was officially drawing dead when the {9-Diamonds} turned. A meaningless {3-Hearts} completed the board, and Kaverman hit the rail.

The tournament is now playing hand-for-hand as it is on the exact money bubble.

Julius Busts, Petrangelo Gets Crippled, and Quoss Doubles

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Kyle Julius - Eliminated
Kyle Julius - Eliminated

The first 10 minutes of Level 17 were pure madness.

On the very first hand, Kyle Julius raised on the button, Steve Sung three-bet out of the small blind, and Julius moved all in for 234,000. Sung quickly called.

Julius: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Sung: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Julius was in great shape to double, and remained ahead when the flop fell {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, but the {5-Spades} turned, giving Sung the lead. The {k-Hearts} completed the board, and Julius dropped his head down on the table for a second or two before getting out of his chair and exiting the area.

Kyle JuliusLol just raised button w AJdd Steve sung he 3b called me 25bb shove w A5o flop clean turn 5 #showers #NH

On an adjacent table, Marvin Rettenmaier and Nick Petrangelo got all of the chips in the middle. We're not sure when, but when we got to the table the flop was {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and the hands looked like this:

Rettenmaier: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Petrangelo: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The turn and river bricked {10-Hearts}, {4-Diamonds} respectively, and Rettenmaier doubled while Petrangelo was left with just 30,000 chips or so. He doubled shortly after.

On another table, Fabian Quoss moved all in for 137,000 over an open to 20,000 from David Benyamine and a three-bet to 75,000 from Keith Lehr. Benyamine folded and Lehr called.

Lehr: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Quoss: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

There was an ace in the window of the {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop, and Quoss held as the turn and river bricked {6-Spades}, {8-Hearts} respectively.

Chidwick Gets His Fill; Busts Lipman

Michael Lipman - Eliminated
Michael Lipman - Eliminated

Michael Lipman checked on a flop of {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Stephen Chidwick fired out 45,000, Shannon Shorr folded, and Lipman check-raised to 125,000. Chidwick tanked for a bit before re-raising all in for around 300,000, and Lipman paused for a moment or two before calling with the stone nuts; {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Chidwick showed {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

"Un poquito," Lipman requested from the dealer. "Un poquito."

The {3-Spades} on the turn was a low card, keeping Lipman ahead, and he continued his "un poquito" chant. The dealer rapped the table in preparation to deliver the final card, then spiked the {10-Diamonds} onto the felt.

No one said a word.

It took Lipman a second to realize what had happened, and when he did he went to shake Chidwick's hand. He then returned to his seat, packed his backpack, and finally muttered, "That was sick."

Tablemate Marvin Rettenmaier politely agreed, and Lipman hit the rail.

Stephen Chidwick opened for a raise in the cutoff, "Crazy" Zachary Clark three-bet from the big blind, committing most of his stack, and Chidwick four-bet jammed. Clark called.

Clark: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Chidwick took the lead when the flop fell {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and held as the turn and river came {5-Clubs}, {4-Hearts} respectively, eliminating Clark.

Safieddine & Maimone Gone

Nível 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Francois Safieddine
Francois Safieddine

With 125,000 or so in the pot and a board reading {6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}, Francois Safieddine checked from the uner-the-gun position and Brandon Meyers moved all in from the hijack. Safieddine quickly called off for approximately 110,000 and the cards were turned up.

Safieddine: {j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Meyers: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Safieddine had flopped top pair but Meyers turned two pair. The {8-Hearts} river failed to help Safieddine, and the man from Denver made a beeline for the exit.

Meanwhile, Nick Maimone has also been eliminated from the tournament.

What are the Odds? Mizzi vs. Eyster

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Sorel Mizzi on Day 1.
Sorel Mizzi on Day 1.

Action folded to Sorel Mizzi on the button and he put in a standard raise. Kevin Eyster then three-bet to 27,500 from the small blind, the big folded and Mizzi shoved all in for 105,500 total. Eyster didn't seem too excited but made the call nonetheless.

Mizzi: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Eyster: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Mizzi was a 65.59% favorite while Eyster had a 27.04% chance of coming from behind (there was a 7.35% chance of a chop).

The {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop was great for Mizzi as it gave him the nut-flush draw while at the same time missing Eyster; in fact, Mizzi became a huge 89.70% favorite while Eyster's chances dropped to 8.18%. The {2-Diamonds} turn gave Eyster wheel draw to a five, though the {5-Clubs} would be no good as it'd give Mizzi a flush. A five did peel off on the river and it was the red {5-Diamonds}.

Eyster spiked his straight to send Mizzi to the rail.
