Event #3: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 2 Iniciado

Bubbles Will Burst on Day 2

Good morning, Las Vegas! We're back for Day 2 of Event #3: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em. Yesterday we saw 3,164 entrants for the event, and at the end of the day the field had been whittled down to just 543 players. That plan is for this even to finish on Saturday, so expect to see players dropping like flies and for the money bubble to be breached very early here on Day 2.

Last night in flight 1b, Thiago Nishijima bagged up 108,509 chips for the chip lead but close behind was Jerry Payne who bagged up 99,425 chips. Today they will bash heads with the likes of David Singer (27,500), Tony Dunst (26,150), Matt Glantz (18,800), Amanda Baker (47,025), Amanda Musumeci (36,500), Scott Seiver (65,000), and Michael Phelps (8,825) when the two fields from day 1a and 1b combine.

We've got just under an hour until the action starts at 1:00 PM local time, so make sure you stay tuned right here on PokerNews.com as we pave our way to the money bubble and beyond.

Early Strong Table Draws

Nível 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

If being at a table with Scott Seiver frightens you, how about being at a table with Scott Seiver and Justin Young, who has over $3,000,000 in tournament prizes?

What's that? Tournament staff just added Nam Le to that table too? Together the three men have over $16,000,000 million in tournament earnings and this proves to be one of the toughest tables in the field so far.

Wheeler Spins Out

Nível 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

We saw Jason Wheeler in the hallway registering for Event #4: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed), which led us to believe he had been eliminated from this tournament. Sure enough, Wheeler informed us that he had run {Q-}{Q-} into {A-}{A-} within minutes of starting. On to the next one as they say!

Shorr Drops a Small One

Nível 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

In the Orange section of the room we found Shannon Shorr in a hand. From the button, Shorr raised to 1200 and was called by the big blind.

The dealer rolled out the {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop and both players checked. After the dealer put down the {10-Hearts}, the big blind checked again, prompting Shorr to bet 1600. After some thought, the big blind player called. On the {4-Diamonds} river, action slowed down and both players checked. The player in the big blind showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Shorr mucked his hand.

Shorr dropped to 14,500 after the hand, but that's still a little more than he started the day with.

He Really Had Kings

Nível 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Victor Ramdin is busto and we caught most of the hand that sent him to the rail.

On the board of {Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} there was more than 14,000 chips in the pot. Ramdin had checked to his opponent who bet 11,000, enough to put him all in. This sent Ramdin into the tank.

"I can only beat a bluff," Ramdin said, talking himself through the hand. "Do you really have kings?"

Finally Ramdin asked the other player, "Will you show if I fold?"

To which the man responded, "On day one, I would've shown, but this is day two."

"Well, at least if I bust I can go play the 6-max," Ramdin said before throwing in a call.

Ramdin was holding {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} while the other player did in fact have {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. The {2-Spades} on the river was no help to Ramdin and he left the room on his way to Event #4: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed).
